Jets really need to start making Mark Sanchez a sort of focus for their PR efforts. He's a really good guy and would do a lot to overshadow everything else about the team. I agree. A lot of the "Southern California pretty boy" image surrounding Mark Sanchez was created by the New York media from the moment he was drafted by the Jets. Sure, he's done photo shoots for fashion magazines, but I can think of a few quarterbacks who have done the same in the past, and they weren't primadonnas either. Sanchez seems like he's a relatively humble guy thrust into a glaring spotlight and surrounded by teammates and coaches who are the complete opposite of humble. I can recall a moment during the Patriots thumping of the Jets a few weeks back when Ladainian Tomlinson broke off a 15-yard run in the first quarter, and got up and celebrated like he had just scored a 65-yard run in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl. Sanchez immediately hustled over to him and gave him a look that said, "Knock that s*** out, it's the first quarter. When those runs start to matter, then you can celebrate." Despite his terrible decisions on the field, he seems like he has the mold of a genuine leader. If he could learn to not throw into double and triple-coverage, then maybe he could really become an elite quarterback. EDIT - I found the highlight I was referencing:

Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey will not be interviewing with the Broncos for their head coaching vacancy on Friday as scheduled, but will make his interview with the Browns on Saturday.

EDIT - I found the highlight I was referencing: Not to say you are wrong in any way, but LT has history with the Pats. That could have been just as much of an FU to them as it was just a standard celebration. Could have just been trying to get under their skins, and by the crowd reaction... i think he did just that.

The Harbaugh saga is amusing. If I were him I'd definitely go to the 9ers though, you can be mediocre and look like some sort of football genius in the NFC West.

If the Jets beat the Colts to advance to the Divisional Round of the playoffs, the Chargers will receive the Jets' second-round pick for the Antonio Cromartie trade.
ESPN's Mike Sando reports that ex-Broncos coach Josh McDaniels is not interested in the 49ers' head coaching vacancy.
San Francisco apparently doesn't have enough elite skill players to trade away for McDaniels' liking, particularly with Frank Gore's value down after a fractured hip
Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News reports that "indications are" Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh will accept Miami's record-setting contract offer and become the Dolphins' next head coach.

According to NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora, the 49ers are still expected to seek an "offensive-minded coach" if they lose out to the Dolphins in the Jim Harbaugh derby, as expected.
NFL Network and Fox analyst Brian Billick and Eagles OC Marty Mornhinweg are expected to be interviewed within the next week. Raiders OC Hue Jackson's interview was reportedly "very impressive," though he remains far more likely to stay in Oakland. Rams OC Pat Shurmur and Falcons OC Mike Mularkey have also been mentioned as possibilities.

It was rumored for a week, now looks to be coming true. Yeah, McShay and ESPN are running with it. Man, this has to suck for Carolina. They had their franchise QB lined up, and he's returning to school. Now, if they want to trade out of that spot, they won't get nearly as much as if Luck would have entered.

Could this mean Harbaugh is staying too?

Good for him I guess. My thinking is why not get take the money and then get the degree later like so many others have. I just don't get risking it.

For every 1 player someone can point out that ruined themselves, I can reel off 20 who came back and were just fine. Not to mention the Lucks aren't exactly starved for cash. Also the side possibility that he knows who #1 is and wants to stay away from the franchise.

Could this mean Harbaugh is staying too? It's got to be tempting for Harbaugh, another year with Luck and a very realistic shot to bring a National Title to freaking Stanford. He wins a National Championship at Stanford, then he's an even hotter commodity. Good for him I guess. My thinking is why not get take the money and then get the degree later like so many others have. I just don't get risking it. He loves his school, and as long as he doesn't get a career ending injury he'll be the number 1 pick next year.

You didn't learn from Jake Locker's mistake, now you'll suffer the same fate son. Luck's a much better QB than Locker was. Hell even last year, people were saying Luck was a better QB and prospect than Locker was. And there's also Sam Bradford, he passed up on being the number 1 pick, returned to school, still became the number 1 pick, got a huge contract and had a damn fine rookie year with a shit team.

If Harbaugh stays, you'd have to rank Stanford #1 or #2 going into next season. Their only real challenge next season is a home game against Oregon. They could run the table.
