I am listening to their song "Take It" and it doesn't sound so bad. In fact, I like it. Why do some people say that the Insane Clown Posse suck?

Some people don't like their fanbase, and I think a lot of the hate directed towards band comes from that. I've only heard a few songs from them and I really like the bigger guy's (I can't remember his name) rapping style. I don't get the view that some have that they are an absolute abomination to music, but like I said I think their fanbase causes people to judge the band.

Because they DO suck. That song title sounds familiar though..didn't somebody in WCW use it as their theme(maybe even ICP themselves)?

The so into em to the point of anoyance fanbase(juggalos), the being white rapers, the old murdering maniacs gimmick, their current fliping between murdering maniacs to devoted cristians thing, and a whole bunch of othets...
Personally I love em, they are funny decent mcs and musicians, they really love and understand the wrestling businesses better than any other existing musician, and are just plain fun.

I have no problem with the band themselves, more the fact the majority of the fan base who I've met were absolute dicks who were obsessed & took the music as gospel.
Also, F'n Magnets, How do they work?

They do get a pretty bad rap in the music community, I think. They're not horrible.

The only rap that I like/listen to are Beastie Boys. ICP gets lumped with the rest that I just don't care for

Because of "masterpieces" like this? *warning* crappy explicit lyrics in this link Although one can't top this sort of lyrical awesomeness: Solar eclipse, and vicious weather Fifteen thousand Juggalos together And I love my mom for giving me this Time on this planet, taking nothing for granted I seen a caterpillar turn into a butterfly Miracles ain't nothing to lie Shaggy's little boys look just like Shaggy And my little boy looks just like daddy

I was a huge Juggalo in the 90's and still like them to a degree.
I think their biggest problem is that most of their fans act like idiots, and way over-obsessed. Instead of simply enjoying the brilliant art that ICP (and the rest of the guys at Psy) have created, they feel the need to act like, dress like, and talk like ICP. Instead of practicing the message of being a non-conformist that is a major subject of ICP and Twiztid's music, they themselves become the very sheep they claim to be rebelling against. It's very off-putting to people that could potentially become new fans.
Another problem is that it has become an insular thing, like the comic book industry. You have to be "in the know" to appreciate references to other songs, to various feuds they've been involved in, to other Juggalo related artists, and to what has become a Juggalo sub-culture. Back in the day, they had a few albums and it was easier to get into. They were clowns that rapped about being clowns, killing rapists and wife-beaters, and feeling like an outcast. It was much easier for a new fan to relate to then, as opposed to what is now almost a lifestyle.
The other major hurdle is not knowing when something sucks. They have tons of great songs, and when they're hot, they're on fire. They are creative, good storytellers, and are funny. But when they're off, they create some of the worst music human ears have ever heard. It's the musical equivalent of wrestling: it's either awesome, or so cringe-worthy that it's embarassing even in private to listen to, with little in-between.

I got into them around the time of The Great Milenko controversy and really enjoyed them. Like you said, it wasn't really tough to follow. Now, after not having listened to them for years, I feel like I've definitely lost touch.

Their music is average. They have songs that drag, and they have songs that are pretty cool. I admit it, the Eminem diss was genius. Also, they both seem to be pretty allright people, they like the same stuff we do and they recognize what's just out there to make a buck and what's out there to be a good movie/album/etc. Plus, when ABC tried to corner them stating the opinion that ICP's music influenced people to murder, they quickly turned the tables back and despite the best efforts of the editing staff, they managed to sneak in a few real points (You better holla at that kid's parents, man!)
That all being said, Mr. Orange up there had it right I think. The god darn Juggalos are KILLING ICP. In the late 90's, when a few kids were slinging around these CDs at school and using the word Juggalo once in a great blue moon, it was okay. Wasn't exactly my cup of tea, but it was better than some of the alternatives at the time. Today, these juggalos are out of control. See, the reason ICP ever became anything was the juggalos, sad to say, because they were the only ones who knew how and where to get an ICP cut. Now, they are spiraling into some kind of superfan, who believes they are in a class, almost a race, of their own. ICP's success got to their heads...and not necessarily Shaggy's or J's.

I am listening to their song "Take It" and it doesn't sound so bad. In fact, I like it. Why do some people say that the Insane Clown Posse suck? Well, Take It is very different from a lot of other ICP stuff. It's more of a rock song with less rapping and basically no silliness or over the top violence and curse words. You have to understand that not everybody hates ICP, and a good majority of the people that do have never really listened to them beyond maybe a song here or there. If you really want to see if they're your cup of tea, I would suggest checking out The Great Malenko (1997) and The Amazing Jeckel Brothers (1999). Those are widely considered to be their best albums. If you like those and want to hear something more recent, check out Bang Pow Boom (2009). You'll definitely notice that it's not as consistently good as the older albums, but there are some really good songs there too...some really garbage ones also. Check out Twiztid while you're at it. They're generally a lot more of a serious group and are much more talented IMO. Twiztid's last 3 albums have all been downright amazing.
