While Cena could have a 17 star match, cure cancer, donate $1,000,000 to charity and personally take everyone out for Pizza and he will STILL be hated on Why say something so patently false? If Cena did work people liked. He'd be praised. Simple as that. There's no great mystery or conspiracy or inherent bias. If Cena did work people liked - he'd be praised. That goes for any worker or promotion ever invented. ---- As an aside, personally, I would have loved for Cena to cut a great promo on Punk. There's nothing I'd love more than for Cena to be able to be just as good or better than Punk in promos. Two great promo guys going head to head is great television. Also - Cena is on WWE TV a lot. A lot. Its in everyone's best interest that he be able to do top-shelf work.

Cena hate didn't reemerge due to Punk. It reemerged due to how badly the end if the Nexus angle went.

I'm gonna let you in a secret, now bear in mind I didn't wade through all the TL;DR wall of text ramblings but I'll assume it's just like always and people keep making the same point after page one (We all do, myself included).
The Indy/Internet fans love everything CM Punk does because he's one of "ours". It was us that gave him the attention that led to him getting signed by the WWE and it was our support that got him to the level he's at now.
As selfish and insane as it sounds, I honestly believe most of the internet fans feel this way.

What about the people who never heard of CM Punk until he debuted in WWE and then really liked everything he did? Your little theory really doesn't factor that in so I'm calling it busted. I'm one of those guys. I'd heard the name CM Punk, but never saw his work until he was in WWECW. After he turned heel - everything that guy does has been gold to me.

I definatly see Punk getting about 7 appreciation threads per Raw (Punk drinks a soda! Punk eats a ham and cheese! Punk opens a door!) While Cena could have a 17 star match, cure cancer, donate $1,000,000 to charity and personally take everyone out for Pizza and he will STILL be hated on So you're saying CM Punk opening a door WOULDN'T be more entertaining than a ***************** John Cena match? That's just ridiculous. Is there a mystery as to what's behind the door? Cuz that would impact whether or not it'd be better. I mean a great match is a great match, but a mystery door could be anything!

Cena "hate" is not really adequate to describe how I feel. For me, it's more of Cena "burnout." He's the top face all in all and I understand that, but that doesn't mean he should take precedent over the WWE title at all times. I mean, even Randy Orton is being treated as irrelevant compared to him, and Orton was arguably going to be the top guy considering how things looked from 3 or 4 months ago.

I don't mind Cena. I didn't even really mind "CM Sucks". The kids are probably gonna eat it up, chant it, and there will probably even be T-shirts.
Cena is good at what he does. He's the top guy and gets treated as such. He's pretty much what the people pay to see so WWE gives people their moneys worth.
I like CM Punk way better, but Punk is probably gonna lose a lot during this feud. Brace yourselves.

Notice I said "Indy/Internet fans" that was there to imply I was just talking about the people who were well aware of Punk before WWE signed him. Sorry for not being more clear. The point still stands, the so called "IWC" is selfish and takes credit for anyone they "make" and thus everything they do is great because the all powerful "IWC" is "great."

I know he was never loved around here but there was a point where there was a lot of Cena positivity on this board. Mostly around Wrestlemania time and during his push for Evan Bourne. There wasn't a bad thing said about the guy. Yeah I know it was mostly for his stuff outside of the ring, but still. Now he is feuding with CM Punk. Look, I am not a huge Cena fan, but I really do like him. I find Punk entertaining, though I don't think everything he does is money. I just get a strong feeling for the next 2-3 months there will be nothing but: "Cena was lame tonight, Punk was awesome tonight" "Did you see how Punk looked out of the corner of his eye? Money!" "The way Punk smirked made that segment" "Cena just can't keep up with Punk in this segment" Punk is very good, but sometimes I feel that everything he does gets magnified so much as the best thing ever, and I like the guy. This isn't a criticism of anyone, but I just have a feeling Cena will be buried on these boards no matter what he does or says against Punk in the upcoming months. On Raw I thought Cena held his own during the opening segment. The segment wasn't Rock vs Austin caliber by either guy, but I thought both guys had some nice back and forth. However everyone says Cena got owned and looked like a fool. I just hope this doesn't turn into everything Cena does sucks and everything Punk does is amazing. You just desribed the Raw thread last night. punk can sneeze and somehow the sneeze added to his promo and made it different and better. I don't get how Cena was owned last night during the opening segment. punk mentioned everything Cena did to everyone else, but did ever say how Cena wronged him?

I don't hate Cena, I hate the stupid booking and the way the Nexus angle has gone so far.

I personally don't hate Cena. I just hate how he's booked as this invincible force of nature, no selling attacks, and always overcoming the odds. When the fans were expressing the same boredom, hate, and chants towards Cena they should've turned him heel.
When Hogan and Rock were receiving backlash from the fans both federations turned them heel and they had massive success.
Fans backlashed against Cena and Vince just kept forcing him down their throats by having him win, win, win, overcome the odds, win, win, and win some more. Those fans just threw their hands up in the air and walked away from the product.
Cena seems like a real humble individual with an insane work ethic and I respect him for that, and it's not his fault that the writers watered him down for the kiddies. It's just how he's booked that has made people sour on him.

Cena hate never dissipated.
I've always stated: I like him personally. I can't stand his character, the way he's booked, and can count on one hand how many matches of his I enjoyed.

Oh, and the WWE Champion is taking backseat to another John Cena storyline. It's his spotlight stealing that annoys me the most. Yeah, becuase John Cena makes the decision to do so. Idiotic statement. Wow, I wasn't aware that I accused Cena of intentionally making himself the focus. I could've sworn I simply said I dislike how Cena's recent storyline's were taking precedent over the main champion's. Idiotic Accusation.

If Punk starts losing a lot in this feud then I'll definitely give up on the WWE as they'll continue on the same pattern they've been on as of late.
Cena's act has gotten stale and they have to know it. It's time for it to get a breath of fresh air. I actually miss heels that talk trash and still back it up in the ring.

Wait until Cena win's a match against Punk.
PUNK IS BURRIED!
Seriously, I'm a fan of Punk. But he can go undefeated for two years straight, win countless World Titles, have a bunch of mega fueds. Then he could have a epic rivalry with it all ending at Wresltemania when he faces the Undertaker in an epic storyline. Undertaker wins after all that, in Undertaker's last match ever, and here wil be everybody:
PUNK IS BURRIED!
Seriously the guy get's too much love. Cena did that cool table spot to Slater and the only thing I saw was "did you hear CM Punk say he spilled my diet soda."

If Punk gives Cena the GTS only for Cena to pop back up like nothing happened, lock on the STF, and win then it will be a burial yes.

It might be a burial of the GTS, but not to Punk who got the WWE's top star in position for his finisher.
