Man, there really needs to be more discussion about Alberto Del Rio. The guy is probably the only guy to come along in the past decade that I genuinely look forward to his music hitting. I'm not including HBK/Taker/etc, as in guys that were big before the last decade and have continued into this decade. Del Rio just screams star everytime he's onscreen. I like a few other guys like DBD, Dashing Cody Rhodes, and I'm a fan of Laycool's heelness, but nothing is close to ADR in star potential for me right now. He has it all, and he's just unique.
More Del Rio at the Crap!

I love Alberto Del Rio, so I'll help by sharing a story. When I went to the NXT/Smackdown show in Corpus Christi back in July, Alberto Del Rio got the role of the curtain jerker. At the time, his intro promos had aired for a couple weeks on Smackdown, but he had yet to debut on television. For his opening dark match, he had basically no heat with the crowd. I had that great aisle seat (see my avatar) so I thought I would help play along with his character because I kind of felt bad that the crowd was so apathetic towards him. I stuck my arm out and game him a thumbs down while I booed him. He just slowly walked past as he stared at me with that great confident smirk of his. You can probably imagine the look that I'm talking about. We made solid eye contact, and I had a great feeling right then that this guy could be something great. He came to the ring and did your typical heel promo before the match to try to gain some heat with the crowd. Next, they introduced Matt Hardy who got a pretty good reaction from the crowd. Sure they loved Matt Hardy, but they were getting sick of the **** Alberto was saying. I posted this picture once before, but here's these two men in action: Del Rio looked great in this match, and he won using his cross armbreaker. After he was announced as the winner, the crowd started booing him pretty hard. This was a HUGE difference from the reaction he got when he came out during his entrance. He managed to turn the crowd against him with all his in-ring mannerisms. Usually unknown dark match guys don't get the level of heat he was able to gain. I knew right then and there WWE had someone special on their hands.

Del Rio is probably the greatest thing to happen to WWE in a long time. He has the look, the talent, the charisma, the Mic skills, you name it. The second I saw his debut against Rey Mysterio I thought "this guy is going to be a future world champ."
Although on that note, did anybody else see hi pre-debut promos and think "he'll be gone in a week?"

And we all know how that turned out.

This topic also deserves possibly the best picture I took while at the Tribute to the Troops show:

I never posted this one anywhere before because of the blurriness, but it's on-topic with the story I told earlier. This was him doing that heel promo I mentioned earlier. I'm still not happy with the quality of this pic, but it's still a rare image so I thought y'all might enjoy it. (Usually during the first match of the show I'm fumbling around with my camera settings trying to find the best combination of settings to get the best pictures. I have a couple other blurry Del Rio/Hardy shots if anyone is interested. Just let me know if you want to see them.)

Huge fan of his. I don't want him pushed too high too fast, but he's legitimately one of the greatest stars they have going. His star power could be as high as some of the legends we talk about today when all is said is done.
A bit premature to say, perhaps, but I get a lot of good vibes from him and his matches. Not a flash in the pan figure that they promote, but someone that I think is truly going to live up to the hype and surpass it.

Del Rio is the reason I watch Smackdown. That announcer, that THEME, that car, that scarf, that smile, that wink. It all screams future world champ. I heard him referred to earlier as a classy Razor Ramon, and I think that's a really good description.

ADR has to be one of my favourites at the moment, he just screams star to me and it's so easy to imagine him as the champ.
