A disheveled Barrett returns on RAW and challenges Cena to one final match. During the match, the rest of Nexus come down and surround the ring... only to let a perplexed Cena walk away unscatched, before viciously beating down Barrett themselves. Nexus joining Cena was something I thought they might do. Then Barrett kind of has an excuse for his failures and can begin his singles push for real from the ground up.

I don't think it can be saved, honestly. What started off as one of the most intriguing storylines in WWE history, turned into "just another obstacle" for John Cena to beat. Nexus was originally a bunch of pissed off "rookies" from NXT Season 1 who all stood together as one to get revenge on the company that treated them like dogs. Then as weeks, months went by it just became "Wade Barrett and his goons."
It's sad that the angle should have been so much more. But when you take into account Daniel Bryans release, the injuries of Sheffield and Tarver, compared with WWE's inability to let ANYBODY get the best of John Cena... Is this really any surprise?

What they should have done was end the angle after Cena screwed Barrett out of the title the first time at Bragging Rights. Then they should have brutally beat Cena on the next Raw and fired him from Nexus. Then gone on the do the Barrett vs Otunga storyline for control of Nexus.

I'd still like to know what the original plans were before they chickened out. We heard everything from a big star being planned to turn heel and join Nexus (HHH and Cena being the big names) to them changing their minds about putting the WWE Title on Barrett several times. Whether it's "news" or "NEWZ" I'd love to know what their original booking was and if it was ever going to live up to our expectations.

I think that 90% of what we saw was what was supposed to happen. The changes would be things like Bryan's firing and injuries to Sheffield and Tarver.

If it was accurate (and not NEWZ), WWE at the last second changed their mind about putting the WWE Title on Barrett. I can't remember if it was during the Six Pack Challenge at NOC or at Bragging Rights. I'd call that chickening out if it's true, but that's just my opinion. There hasn't been much talk about any other booking being changed besides Cena vs Barrett originally being at the Royal Rumble instead of TLC. They fast tracked the CM Punk/Cena feud instead.

I'm not talking what was reported. I'm saying don't believe what was reported, that most of what you saw was what was planned.
