You just gave Russo an idea. I have a feeling that he'll be teaming with GenMe and Amazing Red soon. Hey that is OJ's job. OJ can be his choir director.

And there was the heel turn just before that, so three in what? Four or five months? What was the heel turn just before that? He debuted as a heel, was turned face, kinda turned heel(more tweenerish) to join Sting/Nash & I guess turned face(though I don't think he ever really turned). Was counting joining Sting and Nash, then turning face, now this turn.

I'd mark if instead of turning heel, Pope began sticking his hand down the front of his trunks and coming out to a song praising the art of the nudie bar. Where a buck's enough to see their stuff, at the nudie bar. Where the breasts may be fake but man do they shake, at the nudie bar. Where you swear like a sailor, and wish you could nail her, at the nudie bar. Where the cops are at the door, and there's a ANDERSON on the floor, at the nudie bar. TNAized it.

I'm in the camp that Pope never turned heel with his alliance with Nash and Sting. Dude was fighting EVIL.
So Pope came in heel, got popular and became face almost immediately and now he's seemingly turning again.
That's 2 turns as I see it...big deal. I'd still prefer Pope as a face at the moment though. Let's see if they have big plans for Heel Pope. I doubt it.

Let's see if they have big plans for Heel Pope. I doubt it. before joining with Sting and Nash he was doing heelish things like not accepting Anderson's apology/friendship and stealing victories in tag matches for no reason but to just make himself look better leading to a brawl with Angle. his beef with Bischoff started because he wasn't getting a title shot even though he lost in the tournament. he was then given a fair chance to get the shot but lost to Joe clean. he even heeled on Sting and Nash before joining them telling them that he wasn't going to tell them any of the info he had. by all accounts Bischoff did nothing to screw Pope. so basically one could argue that Pope was a heel with a secretly face Nash and Sting just because his motivations for being with them were selfish. fighting evil does not necessarily mean that you are not evil if your motivations are also evil

Well, I wouldn't accept Anderson's apology either.
In the end, Pope acting heelish pre-BFG was simply a red herring in the whole "who can you trust?" storyline where Sting, Nash & Pope were revealed to be correct about Bischoff & Hogan. Ultimately, it didn't amount to a full heel turn in my eyes.
Plus, Pope has always been a cocky a-hole. Heel or Face (like The Rock). So him having an attitude problem that month didn't feel out of character, IMO.

During that period (from when he started acting like an ass to BFG) the character was written in a way to draw heat. That's what a heel is.

I have a few questions regarding this segment..
1. Why were OJ and the reindeer at the strip club? 2. How did social commentary come into play? It wouldn't make sense if it does. 3. Was Eric Young in the reindeer outfit?
That was a rather strange outfit.

Was Eric Young in the reindeer outfit? That was a rather strange outfit. 1. they were giving the pope money 2. Churches asking for money but the pastors spending it on personal wealth. I don't actually believe thats the rout they are going. They are alluding to it, but my guess is that it is really going to a "good" place. 3. they were collecting money.

Thanks. I just saw the segment, and needless to say, this is bizarre, yet strange and cute at the same time.

Turning Pope again? I missed a couple of weeks worth of Impact, I come back last night and it looks like they are turning him. I don't like to second guess at face value because allowing events to unfold usually provides an explanation however, Pope was ready to explode and be the biggest star in TNA a while back(before his injury) since his return he was in the main event(ME) holding pattern(TV time with ME guys but no ME matches) and now they may be turning him again. For the moment I don't like this a bit. I look at Pope, his entrance, his mic skill, his work in ring, his gimick and most importantly the reaction he gets and I see dollar signs. Now I am not Bischoff nor Hogan but I know talent and potential when i see it and Pope has everything you need.
Likely causes of his turn could include Too many ME babyfaces and they want Pope to stand out. Ther for instead of competing for top babyface status with Morgan, Anderson and Van Dam they go a different direction w/Pope to keep him relevant. Another poster on page one mentioned that they may do this so as to have a heel that is not in Fortune or Immortal.I think that theory has legs. Allow me a caveat on that same logic. AJ is about to turn and when he does he will be the biggest babyface in TNA by virtue of who he is and how endeared he is to loyal TNA fans. So if you kept Pope face and then AJ turns than AJ might overshadow Pope and kill his heat unintentionally.
