I'm not trying to bash TNA or anything, but does anyone have any idea what was up with the pope last night? He got a lot of money from the congregation, said that it was time to go to work, and went to a strip club. What was the deal?

Last night I watched TNA for the first time in years, and what exactly are these pointless backstage segments supposed to prove? Why should I care that a wrestler blows all his money a strip club? I'm sure it goes with his gimmick, but at the end of the day, it's just a waste of time.
And whats with the camera on 10x zoom? those directors need to ease up on those zoom buttons, those segments look like something from a spy cam, it's very annoying to watch.

He took money that he asked the fans to give for needy children at the holidays, and hes using it to go to strip clubs.

He was a face, then he was put in a casket by Abyss, then he had a 'rebirth', and now hes using his face past for heelish means. Basically, theyre using his rebirth as a way to turn him.

I knew this is what they were going to do and I don't like it.
Why turn the Pope heel?! They have enough heels as it is. I understand he lost a lot of momentum but he still had the crowd behind him. He could have continued to fight the good fight against Immortal but no.

He's turned once, a few months after he showed up, if you can even really call him a heel in the first place, as all he did before teaming up with the babyfaces vs. 3D and Rhino was feud with Suicide. Hes been a babyface since. The Sting/Nash thing wasnt a turn, he was just running down Bischoff, who at the time was a face as well.

It was a social commentary on the deceit that goes on behind the scenes at churches in the black community. Whether that's true or not, I brought this up when I did a thread on turns. People are supposed to care about babyfaces and get behind them, but it's hard to do that when people switch willy nilly, and are far too frequent, especially in TNA's case. Pope was a strong babyface, and now, they're going to completely forget all about that. So everything they built up with Pope, they're gonna flush down the toilet, and for what? Social commentary?

I highly doubt that its a case of social commentary They probably just wanted an upper card heel that wasnt associated with Immortal

Pope was a face till he lost to Abyss and now he's a heel with no explanation. I guess they've decided that Anderson is well enough to be on TV more so no spot for Pope. Lame.

That's a heel. Whether it turns out he was in some way justified (although how I remember it, he wasn't really. He originally turned because he was pissed at how losing clean to Mr Anderson didn't put him through to the World Championship finals) doesn't matter. The writers wanted the audience to boo him, he was a heel. So this is two turns in two months.

I'd mark if instead of turning heel, Pope began sticking his hand down the front of his trunks and coming out to a song praising the art of the nudie bar.

Pope is no one's role model! Speak for yourself buddy. Like many of you have said, I don't understand the logic of making Pope heel. I have the same problem I do with this as I did with wrestlers jumping companies during the Invasion. It doesn't make any sense for you, during a time when your company is in trouble, to jump back and forth between alignment. Sure, a change or two here and there (the seemingly impending AJ Styles turn will be the most logical TNA turn in ages.) but guys that have nothing to gain by leaving one faction for the other wastes all of our time and is getting to WCW/nWo levels of ridiculousness.
