I just read that the WWP promotion that was pushed back and pushed back will likely not open at all. This came from a wrestling news website that usually jusr parots the observer so take it for what you will.
If true my opinion was always that I'd believe it when it started running shows. Too bad for the workers who got geared up for this but wrestlers are smart with money so anyone who was lined up likely had plan B.

Well, not all of them are smart with money.
If this is true, I can't exactly say I'm surprised. I mean, I was hoping to be wrong, but I had a feeling this would never actually come about.

Remember the time they almost but didn't sign Shawn "Gavin" Spears?
Leave the memories alone....

When wrestling web sites refused to continue running press releases about hirings and firings from a promotion that never ran a single show, you know it's a bad sign.

You know, this is the least surprised I have ever been. EVER. The best thing about this is - people likely won't learn. The pipe dream of having another big wrestling promotion sending indie stars to international TV is just too sweet to not believe, and the idea that it'd be backed by this guy with deep pockets and a love for the business just tantalizes most people too much to resist buying into. I can only hope that the people behind this torrent of lies didn't manage to scam money out of workers.

Yeah, not surprised. It's all too common with promoters. These guys just happened to be able to get more legit press than most of the BS artists do.
On a related subject, Bill Behrens has done a series of podcasts on lousy, scammer promoters who book shows they know will never happen, put names on the card they know they can't get, and generally just suck, on whosslammingwho. It's a good listen.

This was dead the first day I heard about it IMO. Has anyone found out if "Milton Wilpon" even exists yet?

This was dead the first day I heard about it IMO. Has anyone found out if "Milton Wilpon" even exists yet? Well according to ilovewrestlingnothingbutwrestlingzoneofinnotationdotcom, this was just one looong elaborate rib on the internet that was started by two bored indy guys who Vader worked stiff at a show in California All of the above has no basis in fact and was posted purely as a way to amuse myself at the expense of wrestling news websites who bought stories like this and ran with them

It was a bit too good to be true. I mean, a national promotion, with money, talent and health/pension benefits. Mind, I'll gladly eat my words if it does somehow manage to rise from its speculative ashes.

It was never going to happen, that was obvious when workers they'd supposedly signed started tweeting about it being the first they've heard about it. It was all too good to be true, especially the health insurance offer, as most of the people with the name value needed to launch a serious national company are too injury prone/ravaged at this point to be insurable as active workers, heck, even healthy guys can't get coverage.

This had John Collins and MECW redux written all over it. I'm outta the loop on that could you explain sir? MECW was going to be the "next big thing" after WCW folded (but before TNA started). It was run by a guy named John Collins, who was a scam artist. They had tons of pre-pub, and even "invaded" another indy card as promotion. Had one show, then all the checks started bouncing, then Collins started faking heart attacks. There's more to it, but they were a disaster.
