Well, Otunga only kindah had Kaitlyn as the rival as no other rookies in the 1st year of the business had as much of exposure as they did this year. And Otunga is more relevant between both of them in WWE atm.

I think he's got a great look and can hold his own on the mic. It would help if he actually had a competitive match with someone instead of getting crushed in every tag or singles match he's in.

Honestly, I think he's acceptable for a first-year rookie. His badness has been exaggerated as much as his mic skills have been.

I think people are missing that PWI rookie of the year is awarded to person who is their 1st years in the business (maybe I'm wrong). Barrett have been in the business (British and Irish feds) for pretty a while even though he debuted along with Otunga. I don't think nobody (who debuted in the business this year) probably has much prominence as Otunga. I think the PWI rule is actually "In their first two years of active competition", which still disqualifies Barrett, yeah, but just adding some clarification.

Well, Percy Watson debuted in 2009 also. He's far, far superior at everything than Otunga.

Otunga is a legit 1 year rookie. Everyone else in Nexus has been wrestling for 4+ years. PWI gives the rookie of the year to first year wrestlers. That's why they have a hard time finding folks to put on the list. Otunga is not the best to win but surely not the worst.

About Otunga....hey, he made it to the show in a year, he's sort of special, you have dojos and training camps who won't even let trainees wrestle in front of a paying audience after a year of training.
There's a guy that's been in the Dragon Gate Gym for 4 years and he's still not debuting this year for Christ's sake.
So there you have a guy who's got decent charisma, decent looks, was able to establish his personality as an untrustworthy snake in the grass....he's got the in-ring work of a guy that's been doing it for a year, sure.
Though at this point, he should be touring the world to learn from different people instead of staying in the sterile environnement of WWE. It will be interesting to see his development, as he is one that WWE will have trained from day one, and he's from the FCW clone factory so...

Otunga made it because he's boning Hudson, that's it.
Guy has the charisma of cheddar cheese, looks awkward as hell, and is as clutzy as you can get.
WWE has a bad habit of pulling people from developmental too early. That doesn't impress me that Otunga made it to the show when we know why that is the case.

But really, how is that useful to them? Jennifer Hudson, I mean. It's not like she's his valet, and even if she was....who cares?
