JOHN CENA INJURY DETAILS by Mike Johnson @ 6:45 PM on 12/29/2010 WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross wrote on his twitter account that John Cena suffered a hip pointer during his match against Wade Barrett in Wilkes Barre, PA last night Hmm, conflicting reports are conflicting.

I just read it can take anything from 1 to 6 weeks for a hip pointer injury to heal assuming there is no damage to the iliac crest.
From where the iliac crest is...I would wager than he landed on his side as oppose to his back from the Wasteland.

Well it appears they aren't prepared to put an estimate on his return to in-ring action.
They really are desperate not to lose him aren't they?

They conveniently don't mention that the match was with Wade Barrett.

And for those of you (like me) who wondered what a "hip pointer injury" was: A hip pointer injury is extremely painful, acute injury to the iliac crest of the pelvis. The injury causes bleeding into the abdominal muscles, which attach to the iliac crest. The bone and overlying muscle are often bruised, and the pain can be intense. Pain may be felt when walking, laughing, coughing, or even breathing deeply. sportsmedicine.about.com/cs/hip_groin/a/hip3.htmI think I may have had that once. Though I just suspected it was a hernia. But I did feel pain near my crotch/hip during all those activities. Even eating..But it went away after some rest. If that's what Cena's got, I suspect he'll be fine in no time.

Glad it's not anything too serious. Cena may not be loved by some but there is no denying his importance in WWE. Even though I most likely will miss seeing Cena in person in 2 weeks, I rather he take the time off to heal.

I think for WWE right now is to do the "wrong" thing and rest him intentionally, set up a BIG Rumble return facing off with Punk during the Rumble match itself. It's the only thing that will make Nexus look strong at this point.

Semi-unrelated here but does anyone know if Wade was still wearing the Nexus armband for the match? or is he out of the group?

From what I read on site about the hip pointer injury, he will likely be out ~2 weeks, meaning that there's a somewhat good chance he won't be on next week in a wrestling role but will be the following.

I wish the guy the best in his recovery. It sounds like a very painful injury. I appreciate these guys risking injury every night to entertain people and would never wish ill will on someone.
That being said: Free at last! Free at last! Thank god almighty we are free at last!
Hopefully John takes a nice, long break so an extra 45 minutes of Raw will be watchable each week.

Wow... even WWE.com is linking to that fan's Youtube video in their news article. That's crazy. I've never seen them do that before.

Its a logical thought except for the MMA idiocy. I'm sure Cena looks to guys like Rock who have stepped away and still maintained the spotlight AND kept their health. Conversely, you have Austin, who is a magnetic personality and rich beyond any of our dreams, and he's got all the injury issues to this day, throw Hogan into that same pile as well. Cena could leave today and still never has to work a day in his life and would definitely find work in other entertainment avenues. Cena has proven he's smart, and this idea that he may want out isnt very far-fetched, but to say he wants to do MMA is just laughable and takes any legitimacy out of the idea and squashes it like a bug. Dude, that is a joke report spoofing some newz about Lesnar wanting back in the WWE. Gotcha. I havent been keeping up with the Lesnar thing.

This definantly puts a stinker on their plans, but it can be fixed using the power of Good Booking!
Here's the thing. The "story" is that Punk and Nexus attacked Cena during his match which results is the injury. Punk revels in the fact that he beat Cena so bad to the point of injury, and says that now there is nobody to stop him. Skip forward a month to the Royal Rumble, where Punk and Nexus are dominating the match, and then (dun-da-da-DAAAAAAA!!!!) Cena returns all healed up (this should be a good 4-5 weeks of recovery, and after the match will be given more time to recover) and eliminates Punk and Nexus from the Rumble with the help of a returning Triple H, before being tossed out be Hunter.
This should lead to a month to 6-weeks of recovery and rehab to get Cena feeling better before WM rolls around.

Wonder if CM Punk'll pull another Jeff Hardy and come out in Cena's gear?

Yeah, this youtube video is totally gonna be the first thing they play next RAW, immediately before CM Punk's victorious promo about 'taking out' Cena to start off 2011 under his new regime.
