I got my Suikoden II of a bargain bin for 25€ + NFL Blitz 2000 (which was 15€) *helds *insert name of hero of yesteryear* Shield up* If you got it with Blitz 2000 you likely got it before the price skyrocketed, thereby simply making you a "lucky bastard" and not a "target of hate." I got sick of waiting and got Persona 2 from a different store a little further out. Right as it was closing, no less. Right now I'm waiting for my PSP to charge so I can data install P2 and then begin a new game, as apparently you can't install data if the battery level is below 60%. Also, XSEED has just announced that they're bringing over Vanillaware's new game, Grand Knights History, this winter. One last thing...maybe my taste-o-meter is broken, but I'm actually surprisingly stoked for Final Fantasy Type-0. I think it looks interesting.

I picked it up in 2001 I believe (I clearly remember the first few PS2 games on the shelves that day, like The Bouncer and that fireworks game too), so a full year after it was released in Europe. If I were to guess, the price picked up around that time (it was also the only copy of the game on the bin )

Still lucky, though; it is the holy grail of PS games. I'm also glad it got a PAL release (and quite surprised, as I don't think III made it), considering how it seems that even relative to now a lot of games back then were passed over.

Konami actually cancelled III in PAL format a few weeks before it was scheduled to be at stores. It's the only game of the series that was released outside of Japan to not be released in Europe.

Back from the dead, this thread. Would've done it a couple of days ago but I've been hit with the flu or something and I feel like total s***.
So I'm at the end of Persona 2: Innocent Sin and I think it's my new favorite game in the series. Persona 3 and 4 can't touch this game's story and characters, and this is only one half of Persona 2! It's so nice I'm going to do it twice and probably start a new game after I beat it, backlog/interrupted P4 playthrough/horrible sickness be damned.
Here's also hoping to a PSP version of Eternal Punishment as well; I guess Meguro wanted to have both P2 games in one set, but it didn't happen, and I've read he still wants very much to make a PSP Eternal Punishment. It'd be good to keep the duology, and it'd also be nice to have a new version of EP for those of us who missed it the first time around and may not get lucky in the crapshoot of finding it again (me, for example).
Ugh, god. A few more posts here, and then I'm off to bed.

New Age Retro Hippie felt somewhat nauseous...
Get well soon.
Still waiting on my copy of P2 to arrive, not that I can play it when it arrives though. I too would like to see EP arrive for the PSP, to avoid having to pay a ridiculous amount for a copy on the PS1. I'm sure if it gets made Atlus will bring it over. Atlus is dependable, unlike Capcom, for example.
I want my Ace Attorney Investigations 2, damn it!

New Age Retro Hippie could not stop crying!
Just finished it. Letting my PSP charge. I'm naturally not going to spoil anything, but I will say I'm still emotionally staggered by the ending, and still shaking in ways that are more than just me being cold. Phenomenal.
I hear you on AAI2, Starman Deluxe. It seems like Capcom's really gone to pot since Keiji Inafune left, they also cancelled Mega Man Legends 3 claiming "poor fan reception" and left Mega Man out of MvC3, though he was the most wanted character in a fan poll. Granted, they might be saving him for DLC, but that's an even crappier excuse if they are. DLC like that is a pox on the industry.
And last but certainly not least, thanks for the well wishes. For what it's worth I am feeling a little better today, though it's still pretty much heavy bathrobe décor, naptime, and unsteady steps, hahaha.

Just got my copy of P2:IS. Now, to get a PSP.
AAI2 really bothers me because I didn't even think that it would not come out in the US. Like, Ace Attorney is supposed to just automatically get localized.
I dislike DLC in general, and especially in 1) games that have new releases every year and 2) games where the DLC was ready to go when the game came out. If I want DLC, it's going to be some insane quest for an RPG or something like that.
Glad you're feeling better even if it's not much better.

That's part of the reason why the reaction to Capcom's announcement of it not coming over here was so negative; everyone, you and I included, just took for granted the fact that it would be coming here.
About DLC, I mentioned my views on it in another thread (they're not far from yours, only I made an issue of people getting ripped off) and someone brought up the Fallout 3 DLC which apparently adds a bunch of new stuff and a decently-sized new quest. If only all DLC was like that and not just stuff that you have to pay to unlock on the disc, as it stands the model is far too exploitable.

Exactly. If there's a DLC out for a game I love that adds some new quests or something that adds a ton of new stuff, like the Valkyria Chronicles stuff for the most part, then that's great and I think exactly what DLC should be. When it's to unlock a new character, or a character that should have been in the game in the first place, or a new skin or something like that then it just feels like a waste of money. I'm thinking of replaying the Lunar series next. All the Working Designs talk has me feeling nostalgic. Also, saw this bit in this article: www.animenewsnetwork.com/the-x-button/2011-09-28EarthBound is easily my favorite game of all time, so a Mother-3 looking Professor Layton bonus RPG is making me weak in the knees. Now, if only the real Mother 3 would find its way overseas somehow.

Hyped for London Life as well. I'm glad they decided to include it, as that was the heaviest point of speculation on a possible localization of Last Specter. Still waiting on Mother 3 as well. I played the fan translation and it's probably better than an official Nintendo localization would be, but an official version would give the game the exposure it so, so much deserves. I'd like to say it'll get a release on the 3DS' Virtual Console, but the copyright issues that prevented a VC release of EarthBound would surely also apply to its sequel, sadly. I won't give up hope though. As my sig suggests, I picked Tactics Ogre over a second playthrough of P2. It's nice to see that the enemies still almost never miss with as low as a 25% hit rate, while you only hit seemingly about half the time with a hit rate in the eighties. Ninja Denam, Double Attack twice, 75% hit rate, all four times blocked. Counterattacks are around 21%, both critical him. Rage. But good thing counters are relatively weak.

Oh, joy, FFXIII-2 has pre-order bonuses, and thus, it means it has DLC.I remember the days where you could just walk in to any store at any time and grab a Final Fantasy game and know that Omega would be in the game. Now you have to go to a single specific retailer, and not only that, you have to reserve the game on top of that to get Omega. That is, if you don't want to pay extra for him(and you know SE is going to make Omega DLC for those who don't pre-order the game at Best Buy, they'd be missing out on too much money if they didn't).

But can he kill you from all the way across the arena, before you can reach him, like Omega mk.XII can? Is he so large that you can't even move in the room you're fighting him in, like the Hell Wyrm? Does he have a family of Omega Jr.'s, like in FFV? If you're walking with your new buddy Omega on, say, a bridge, is his weight to such an incredible extreme that he'll cause the bridge to collapse and send your entire party to a horrible and massively entertaining demise? This is the true and pertinent information I need. I miss when you could go into a store and get any game, knowing full well that you'd never have to pay a dime on bulls*** unlockables or new character skins or anything that's already included, but to get it you have to pay the yutz publishers more. Now a f***ing boss battle is likely DLC?

Take for example, the God of War games, in God of War 1 and 2, the character skins were unlocks, trophies proving you accomplished things in those games. God of War 3 rolls around, and the majority of the skins become pre-order bonuses/DLC, thus removing the reward aspect of them.

Everything I read about FFXIII-2 makes me more confident I made the right decision in choosing to never purchase the game ever.

The Persona 4 anime is streaming at Anime Network, I think just the first episode so far: www.theanimenetwork.com/Anime/Persona-4/WatchIt's pretty much exactly the same as the game, except things happen a little more quickly. They have Pursuing My True Self as the opening, plus they have the calendar transition screen from the game, which are both nice touches. I can't stand the voice they have for the main character, named Yu Narukami in the show. Of course, that could be because half of what he says is either gasping or "Yeah".

To be fair, when he's as successful with the ladies as he is, all he really needs a lot of the time is gasping and "Yeah."

Yeah, it was all but confirmed that it would be more "Tierkreis" like. I remember some comments back when the trailer appeared that some Konami exec. at the show said that it would take place in another of the "million worlds". So, yeah, take the main Suikoden storyline out of the way there.
It's also not like we'll see anything that feels like a Suikoden from Konami, at least in a while, since nobody from the old Suikoden team (the ones that worked on the franchise up until SV) is there anymore.

I always hope that the next Suikoden is going to be main universe Suikoden, but my hopes have been dashed two times now. Luckily, this one is going to be much easier for me to not buy, not having a PSP at all. Still haven't picked up Tierkreis either.
