I would figure he'd be either too young to die yet, or he would still be used in popular culture, but there was also Cry For Justice and Final Crisis for both reasons. On a different topic: When did Alan Scott turn into Whiplash? I'm wondering when the hell he became a human rook?

Am I the only person that picked up the Larfleeze Christmas special? That thing was great. Truly, Larfleeze is poised to become DC's next big thing. yeah it was awesome, highlight was him looking confused standing out the front of the fortress of solitude while searching for Santa

My sister gave me cash for Christmas, so I figured I'd hit up some eBay/Mycomicshop and pick up a nice chunk of Batman: Batman in the Seventies TPB Batman/Phantom Stranger 1-shot Batman 450-457, 465 Batman: Shadow of the Bat 31 and 56 Detective Comics 543, 796, 823, 841, and Annual 11 Pretty random assortment of things, I know. Should be fun, though. ;D

that's Lightning.
speaking of Thunderbolt, I know a lot of other JSA fans hated him, but I miss Jakeem Thunder. he disappeared off the face of the earth during the period where DC renumbered JSA.

It's sort of a shame they did, because after, imo, some great JSA arcs, the currrent team have made me want to drop the book with their 'old people need to retire and the people hate you' storyline

It's sort of a shame they did, because after, imo, some great JSA arcs, the currrent team have made me want to drop the book with their 'old people need to retire and the people hate you' storyline I quit the book during the second series shortly before Johns left. It was a real shame too, for most of the last decade it was my favorite book and I would've easily told anybody that it was the best series DC was putting out since Starman ended. But the team just got too big and contained just too many characters I just couldn't care about. Magog, Lightning, the non-android Hourman, the new Mr. America, the new Amazing Man, the new Judo Master, the new Dr. Fate, Wildcat's kid, super angsty Sand, super angsty and deformed Damage. I gave up when they pulled a new King Chimera out of the blue. Compared to the team in the early issues of the first series, this team just never developed any chemistry, and the characters never felt fully realized. The best thing about the original team was that it was a varied group of already existing characters thrown together haphazardly, winding up having great chemistry together, and having the perfect creative team for it (Robinson and Goyer at first, later Johns and Goyer). It was kinda like a more serious JLI. It even managed to make the all but forgotten about Black Adam into one most popular characters in comics for awhile. This second series team just felt too manufactured, with random characters being created with generic personalities just to fill niches that I'm not sure needed to be filled.

JSA was fine in general, but I think where they messed up was when they split the team into JSA and JSA All-Stars, they continued to only focus on the older and established characters, so all the new ones were just there.
What perhaps they should have done is left the core 3 of Alan, Jay and Ted teaching the new kid characters, while the established other characters like Mr Terrific, Power Girl, Hourman and Liberty Belle and so on went off to be the JSA as the All-Stars.
That would have given us an Avengers like scenerio where the established people are in one team, while the more traditional main stays were teaching the new guys (like with Avengers Academy).

On Titans: Found the one comic store in brooklyn that got their books despite the snow. Here. We. GO! {Spoiler}While Kon is angsting about Cassie and Garth tries to help him cope, Rose tries to relate to Damien, but he's just a dink. Cass and Raven are having no luck tracking down Headcase, but Bart saves the day. Fast forward to ominiously empty school where Bart is felled rather easily (the ole dansel in distress gag!), and the team splits up with the senior Titans taking the main antagonists and Rose/Dami breaking off to fight a cafeteria of zombie like things. I have one or two minor gripes, but the writing is tight, the dialogue FITS the characters voices. The Art is flawless (except for the referencing of freckles the colorist left out, probably miscommunication in the notes). Best Titans has been in years. Keep it up Krul and Scott! --- The Flash: {Spoiler}Zoom is a giant dick. He's been re-writing his own origin to fit his version of how his life should go. Literally going back in the past, snapping necks, sawing his family tree, and oh yeah, labotimizing women that reject him. He's set up as a GRADE A BASTARD here, and the Road to Flashpoint is OFFICIALLY ON. Always nice seeing Kolins pencils again. Awesome.

yeah. Zoom is a grade A dick. say what you will about the way Johns writes heroes, there's no question that he writes damn good villains.

Yes. Johns writes a good villain, it's why I'm quite suprised we haven't seen something like a Rogues ongoing, or at least a decent mini.
I've always though the way they were used, it would be really interesting to have the same stories running across two titles, but one that focuses on the hero, and one that gives the villain more of a spotlight. Flash and the Rogues would work better than anyone else in that model imo.

Can't wait to get the last Flash issue (I live in England and order from America, so it takes a while.) Great character -- can't wait to see the Flash family crossover.

Let's get this effin' thread going again people.
I picked up
Iron Man/Thor 1-3 by DnA and they are freakin awesome.
I also picked up AVENGERS: CHILDRENS CRUSADE 1-4 and Heinberg is managing to undo every character assassination Bendis has hacked his way through in the last decade.
He's my hero. He's gonna take pollution down to zero.
