well now that Swamp Thing is back in the DCU, he'll probably lead the "horror" book. And maybe Jonah Hex will now become a part of the DCU for their "western" book (his current one takes place outside of DCU continuity, right?)

People don't want just superhero comics. Different genres have been in demand for a while now, so them wanting to do branch out isn't bad at all.

-1st Justice League arc has them coming together "for the 1st time" since according to Johns, when the Justice League first started in the 60s, it wasn't for any reason in particular But I already know why they formed,Mark Waid told me.

Wasn't Crysis suppose to do this and it ended up not rebooting anything?

Just like with all of the powers in the Marvel Universe, Captain Marvel himself died of...Cancer?
How many f***ing deities was he friends with?
"Hey, Thor, we've fought together, right?" "Aye!" "I've got this horrible disease, can you give me a hand with it?" "f*** thou." *Flies away*

Didn't the Justice League come together cause of Starro, that space starfish that takes over the bodies of monsters to do stuff? Or what about the DCAU reasoning for the alien invasion? I believe that currently they came together to battle the threat of the Appelaxians.

And yeah I know the Black Panther story where he 'has the cure' or whatever; but that's stupid too.

Didn't they sort of do that with Firestar during her cancer period?

With all they can do in the universe, I don't think having Doctor Strange or Reed Richards help him would have been too outlandish. But they did. Strange tried a mystic cure, Reed and all the other scientist (Black Panther included) tried to find a scientific one. They all failed. The point was to show a) cancer can strike anyone and b) there wasn't a cure (obviously now there is more of a chance). On top of that, it wasn't normal cancer, it was super cancer. Back on topic though.............EVERY BOOK is getting a creative change? Does this mean Simone will no longer be writing Birds of Prey? Or Secret Six? Will there even be a Secret Six seen as this reboot will surely take half the characters back to plain crap one dimensional villains? I'm officially moved from bemused to pissed at this change. Just totally pointless rebooting. And all so they have an excuse to change the Superman origins now they've lost the rights to the original. Which, essentially, is what this is. Misdirection to cover themselves against losing vast amounts of money on origin stories.

Didn't they sort of do that with Firestar during her cancer period? She was cured by Ant-Man, wasn't she? And they had Vulture cured of cancer by absorbing an android or something. With all they can do in the universe, I don't think having Doctor Strange or Reed Richards help him would have been too outlandish. But they did. Strange tried a mystic cure, Reed and all the other scientist (Black Panther included) tried to find a scientific one. They all failed. I guess... it's just a weird way to handle it, I think.

You hve to remember when the story was written as well. It wasn't the modern age where the chances of surviving cancer are much better, it was a time when cancer was really just hitting the headlines and was much more of a near certain death sentence.
To have someone contract and then die of cancer makes a statement, and imo, the story itself is one of the most memorable and, frankly, perfectly written stories ever.
Had they just cured him, it kinda spits in the face of all the people who knew someone who had died or was dying of cancer at a time, like I say, when it was rarer to survive than anything else.
It's the same reason Mar-Vell should never, EVER, return permanently. It was just too much of a meaningful story at the time it was written.

I gotta be honest... most of this doesn't look so bad. Booster's new costume looks LAME but it looks to me like DC isn't changing things TOO much. I'm still pretty mad about this, and I still want to know what's going to happen to Power Girl and Secret Six (the only DC monthlies I'm reading right now, though JLI and the new Captain Atom book could be really good) but I'm going to wait and see where this goes before I judge it.
