'First ever American comic' - comics in other parts of the words are as high as 3000, weekly ones granted, but still.

Fair enough, I wasn\'t aware of that. I still think it\'s wrong to \'reboot\' the title that basically invented the genre.
Hell, I\'m just a crotchety old man agin\' the whole reboot thing anyway if I\'m completely honest.

As somebody in this thread had already said, the thing that's bothering me the most about this is how halfassed it is. Some characters are being rebooted from the beginning while others are being kept compeltely intact from where they were in August.

One of our daily tabloids over here in the UK was running a story on the reboot today, focusing on the fact that Superman will apparently be wearing jeans a tshirt with a cape as his new costume.
No more briefs over tights.

At this moment I'm going to try 12 DC books post relaunch, whereas right now I'm only currently getting three (and two of those are Flashpoint stories done by creative teams or about characters who will be getting new titles in September), so at the very least their strategy is working on me.

Conversely, me and my girlfriend are pretty much dropping DC entirely, which amounted to us getting about 8 or 9 books a month. We'll only be getting one book, and it's a mini-series that's already two issues in.

I shall be dropping from 11 down to 7, so they lose 4 books worth from me over all this.

Well I just looked at the solicits for September. I'll pick up JLI and Blue Beetle, because I'm big fans of those franchises, but nothing else looks even remotely interesting. I can't believe I'm reading a solicit for Action Comics 1. That is just so wrong on every conceivable level.

I should REALLY be excited about Deadshot and Harley Quinn getting their own book in Suicide Squad. But damn, those lame ass 90's costumes aren't doing anything for me.

Harley doesnt look right as she appears to have lost the fun edge that made her different, while Deadshot without Catman is just going to remind me that the Six is over.
I wanna try the book, but I can't help but hate it for not being S6

I wanna try the book, but I can't help but hate it for not being S6 I think that's exactly my problem. It won't be the same without the homicidal bromance that was Deadshot and Catman. To say nothing of the fact that Ragdoll(my favorite Six character) is probably going to comic book limbo.

I just don't understand why out of this huge amount of rebootingness they aren't keeping S6. Their sales aren't DCs worse by a long shot and it is very critically well received with a rabid and loyal following. I assume it was cancelled to make way for the Suicide Squad but... why? Just another in a long list of annoyances.
Although one more thing... I'm ashamed to say it, but I'm getting Action Comics once the reboot kicks in. Grant Morrison is writing Superman and after All-Star Superman there is no way I'm not picking it up, even though I'm as outraged about the renumbering as anyone else. I'm a dirty, weak-willed Morrison slut and I'll feel shame as I inevitably love it.

Thats fair enough if its not your thing. Personally I've loved his Batman stuff (I even loved the highly ridiculous Batman RIP) and whenever he's touched Superman he's done stories that are in mind among the best, if not THE best, that the character has ever been treated. And I'm something of a Superman mark and anything to get him out of the suckitude that has been the Grounded arc all of the better (though much of Cornell's Action Comics run has been great).
Apart from that theres a few titles I'll try out. Obviously JLI is a must have, and I think I'll try Justice League Dark (I love the characters individually though not sure how they'll work in a team book, will be interesting to see if nothing else). I'll get Resurrection Man as I loved Abnett and Lanning's cosmic Marvel stuff, and Abnett's Warhammer 40k books back in the day. I'll also pick up Blue Bettle (its a new Blue Bettle series, it must be done!), Green Lantern (seems the most uninterrupted of any series) and Batman and Robin (love me some Damian Wayne).
Thats 7 picks I'll definitely try and possibly more as reviews and fanbase reaction comes in. I still think this is stupid and unnecessary, but I'm not gonna judge anything until I've read the books. And who knows, it might actually be decent (except Teen Titans, that just stinks of awfulness). Or it'll be awful and I'll be only getting Marvel come November, who knows.

I don't doubt at some point in the future Action and Detective will go back to their original numbering when they reach some milestone, ala Marvel. Action #1000 is over eight years away after all.

I hadn't noticed Resurrection Man before. As part of my neverending quest to see 90's characters get more respect, I think I'll give that one a look too. I don't doubt at some point in the future Action and Detective will go back to their original numbering when they reach some milestone, ala Marvel. Action #1000 is over eight years away after all. I'm sure they will, I just dont understand why they're bothering with something as stupid as relaunching Action and Detective from number 1 in the first place when everybody knows this and nobody wants to see this happen in the first place.

Probably to keep everything uniform. This way it at least looks like a total reboot of the DC Universe, even if its really not. And, the ugly truth is, Action #1 is going to sell better than Action #905 or whatever the issue number would be if they kept it going.

on that note, I'm super-excited for the Stormwatch book, and Captain Atom also has my attention. I'm sure some of these books'll be total dreck, and Harley's redesign is horri-awful, but I'm going into this with an open mind. just going to have to think of it as a completely different universe than the last one, because otherwise I'll just get bothered too much.

I second the New X-man recommendation. Just remember {Spoiler}its not really Magneto,It's Xorn pretending to be him Why?Because Marvel were pussy's and hit the retcon botton pretty quick.
