Ive got to say that its not 100% due to nostalgia but i really love the 1st movie...it had a great soundtrack, when watching back there are so many pieces of music that stand out! I really love everything about this movie, the turtles effects are awesome....but what i think i like most is the dark tone the movie has...if this movie had been made today it would be full of childish humor and comedy!
TMNT seems to have a gritty feel to it...Shreddder is portrayed as a ruthless badass! Tell me you didn't get a cold shiver when his music hits and we first see him walk in the room! Awesome Scene!
And thats the thing about this movie...there are so many memorable scenes...Turtles first appearance, Splinters talk with Raphael, Shredders first appearance, the whole farmyard scene with Aprils narration...the rooftop fight sequence ( the music that plays when the turtles are fighting shredder is fantastic!)
So what does everyone think of this movie?
T-U-R-T-L-E POWER!!

I liked it, and yes you're right, the soundtrack did rule.

I'll bet he never has to look for a can opener.

It really is a very good flick, and works as a great adaptation of the, I think, "Return to New York" storyline from the original comics (or whatever it was called), along with some aspects of the cartoon mixed in.
Living near New York, it's funny to me that this movie was made around the end of the era where you could make a movie with Manhattan looking THAT grimy and gritty and thinking "Eh, yeah, I could see that."

I love the MC Hammer song, "This is What We Do", that they use, I think, the first time they show the foot's warehouse where all the kids are playing games, etc. Good stuff.
I remember seeing it in theaters as a kid and thought it was f***ing awesome. Still think the same.
I like Secret of the Ooze as well.
But the 3rd one was horrible. Even Casey Jones' return couldn't save that disaster. Even as a Turtle loving kid of the 90's, I thought that movie was bad.

The only thing I liked about the 3rd movie was the use of Tarzan Boy.

When I was a kid, I had this Super Nintendo NCAA basketball game. I went undefeated one season and during home games, within the last three minutes or so of each game I'd put on Shredder's theme and pretend they were playing it over the PA system.
Yeah, I really overthought it.

It had an edge to it and dark, literally, the lighting was dim. I wish they went along with the Raphael/April romance. It was weird but I liked it. And speaking of April, she had great legs.

The only thing I liked about the 3rd movie was the use of Tarzan Boy. I honestly wish Turtles 3 was just Casey Jones teaching those Japanese guys how to play hockey and watch TV. Those are the only scenes I care about in the movie.

Never saw the third one. By the time it came out I was a little too old to be part of the demographic/just didn't care anymore.

The first Ninja Turtles movie was great. Definitely the best adaptation that's been done of the comic

I loved this movie as a kid and I still love it today. Loved the second one, too. The third... not so much. But I'd take even that one over the CGI movie that got released a few years back.

My favorite part of the movie: OK, I have seen that movie a dozen times but this is the first time I have seen that scene. Does this come from an extended version or was it already in the theatrical cut?

I believe it was completely removed from the UK versions.
I know there was a big issue with the nunchucks, to the point that they replaced it with a grappling hook later in the cartoon.
