As another poster has said, I doubt anyone has a massive problem with it unless it's being directed at them. Of course there are going to be the odd issues, we know AJ disliked the idea that gays were lusting after him, and Flair seemed to have a massive issue with OJ bringing his bf to some do, plus there is the religious aspect that guys like GenMe and Jericho have brought up having issues with gay people over. Flip to that and you have Nash and Punk who clearly dont care at all, and have said as much on their websites and in interviews. It's all gonna be personal opinion based on that person, for what it's worth, I doubt Vince has an issue with it, look at Pat for an example as to that, but it is an easy gimmick to get heel heat for - but as we've seen with Goldust, fans will cheer a bi wrestler or whatever if given a reason to do so. from what I understand, Flair's issue wasn't with the guy's sexuality, it was that the guy was really annoying and cocky or something to that effect. yeah exactly the dude had no place being in the locker room with the talent and apparently he was acting like a complete tool. It makes me sad, because you know that there have to be wrestlers who ARE gay or bisexual but are afraid to come out of the closet. Why would they be afraid? Two of the longest tenured employees in the company are well known homosexuals. |

I've heard rumors that Sylvain Grenier is gay or bi, but I don't know. I can't say for sure. Billy Gunn, I can't say for sure about that guy. I've heard that he is/was actually married and has kids, but he has always given me that vibe that he could be bi or something. I mean apart from his tights in the past, look at the fact that he has worn his first tied at the bottom like a girl would.

that is not to say all wrestling companies or wrestlers are homophobic, it just seems homophobia has a bigger place in wrestling than it does in most industries. I disagree. In football (European, the one where you kick a ball with your foot) it's (still) WAY worse. If any player would be openly gay you could expect ultra fans of some opposing team go WAY below anything you'd hear from wrestling fans. Even in MMA, boxing, hockey and American football you could fight the prejudice by being ultra tough and kicking ass left and right, whereas in football there's a lot of mind games and not much physical violence allowed. |
