I realised something about the Steen angle - it's essentially Frankenstein and his monster in Ring of Honor, where the monster has turned against the scientist who created him. Done perfectly.

Ok, awesome, Steen is back, now we have a legit heel contender with some personality to him. Please get the belt off of Chris Benoit circa 1994 as soon as possible. I knew that was coming. They shouldn't get the belt of a guy the majority of the fanbase loves in order to satisfy one guy who doesn't even follow the product.

I fear the Davey/Eddie match is going to be sorely overrated in the next few weeks. It definitely wasn't a bad match, but there was too much abuse big spots and not enough selling for me. The 4-way tag match was Balls to the Wall awesome, though. Great PPV overall.

I kinda want Jimmy and Steve to keep trying to heal Kevin, I feel like that would be cooler than the more predictable feud with Kevin.

Just getting up from a long night, even though it was an early show, with train travel, driving, and a 8 month old at home, I'm just getting to sit down. Let me just say...
WHAT A SHOW!
Just for perspective, I've been an ROH fan from day one. The days at Murphy Rec, the Philly Armory, Boston, to today, the last nine years have been a ride. Through all the highs, the lows, with everything that's gone on, this is the best show I've ever been to, without a doubt.
Colt Cabana vs. Tommaso Ciampa
Decent match. I'm a huge Cabana mark, so that may make me biased. Ciampa has a bright future. I really thought Cabana got hurt on the finish, but we'll see.
Mike Bennett vs. Jay Lethal
I can't stand Mike Bennett, though I suppose that's the point. Huge cheers for Lethal, and a nice "Randy Savage" chant, though this was the point where the section next to ours started to get real annoying, chanting for random stupid shit. It was funny the first few times, but got old. A nice nostalgia win for Lethal, though I too am unsure if that's the right thing to do if he's not staying. Time will tell.
No Holds Barred Street Fight: Homicide vs. Rhino
Nice street fight to change things up a bit. The crowd tried for an ECW chant, but the hardcore ROH faithful let it die. Rhino in ROH could be very good, especially in the role he's in right now, though I really thought Nana was going to eat the Gore through the table.
Steve Corino with Jimmy Jacobs vs. Michael Elgin with Truth Martini
Great match going into the intermission. The angle with Steen was electric, as he was in front of my section when Corino introduced him. Crowd was hot for Corino and Jacobs. I really, really like Michael Elgin. He can go far in ROH. The angle with Steen after the match was AWESOME, though predictable. I don't know where the PPV feed cut off, but ROH security carrying Steen off as though he was being crucified while he laughed maniacally was a nice touch. I can't wait to see where they go with this angle.
ROH World TV Title Match: Christopher Daniels(c) with Truth Martini vs. El Generico
Daniels' heel mannerisms are awesome. He has a real cockiness that gets under your skin, making you boo him even if you want to cheer. Unless you're one of those people that cheers the heels. Great match, great kickoff to the second half of the show. Huge pop for Generico winning with the top rope brainbuster. Crowd was HOT for Generico.
ROH World Tag Team Title Four Way Elimination Match: Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin)(c) vs. The Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli) vs. The All Night Express (Rhett Titus & Kenny King) vs. Jay & Mark Briscoe
Excellent match. I wasn't sure if it could be topped (spoiler alert: it was). As one of approximately two people cheering the All Night Express, I was ecstatic when they eliminated the Briscoes. I was glad to see the Briscoes are changing their characters up some, but they're still stale, and I was glad to see them go. I really thought ANX was going to eliminate Haas and Benjamin, but alas they didn't, and the KOW's shenanigans sent ANX packing. The KOW/WGTT part of the match was very very good, and until the end, most of the crowd thought the Kings were going to regain the titles. Claudio's airplane spin followed by the big swing/dropkick combo set the crowd off, as the crowd was hot for Claudio anyway. Anti-climactic ending. WGTT really need a good finisher. The hangman/leapfrog thing is lame, and so was the finish to the match.
Sidenote #1: Not that anyone cares, but I used to be the BIGGEST Chris Hero hater. I thought he was terrible, and up until last night, still felt that way. But there's just something about him that makes you cheer him, heel or not. So I guess I'm converted.
Sidenote #2: Can someone tell me what sense it makes to have a heel team (KOW) come out with a rapper performing their entrance song, getting the crowd to participate, then being total heels? It just doesn't make sense to me. Awesome entrance, though.
ROH World Title Match: Eddie Edwards(c) vs. Davey Richards
What can I say that hasn't been said already? What a match. A bit over the top with all the kicks and head shots, but its almost that you have to expect that from an ROH show. Crowd was dead split for Eddie and Davey, and it made the crowd even hotter. Great pop from all when Davey won, as you could tell the crowd loved both men, but just liked one more than the other. The post match was great, genuine, and from the heart. You can't help but to feel good for Davey Richards.
Overall, an excellent show. There wasn't a bad match to be had, and the pacing of the show was perfect. As was said earlier, the last two matches were 75 minutes plus, and the time flew by. I am so excited to see where ROH goes from here, as the company seems to be picking up steam, and with the new TV deal and new money being put into the product, the future looks bright.

I just wonder if Rhino had the same sense of deja vu that I did when his doppelganger timewarped from 2001, calling himself Michael Elgin, to wrestle Corino.

Great show.
Cabana/Ciampa, Bennett/Lethal, and Corino/Elgin were all solid-good. Elgin is awesome. The Kevin Steen angle is so perfect, and came off so well. Cant wait to see where it goes from here.
Rhino/Homicide was better than I thought it would be. Fun match, and I still pop for the Gore every time he hits it. The only person other than Goldberg to ever do a believable spear imo.
Tag Title match was good, but I didnt think it was great. It was certainly long, but I never really got into it as much as it seems other people here did. Agreed that WGTT need a finisher, cause the ending was, bleh. Still, good match.
TV Title match was great, up there with the World Title match imo. I didn'tt think Davey/Eddie was AMAZING, but it was damn good, and Davey's moment afterward was fantastic. If I had to rate them, id put them both around the ****1/4 mark. Very good stuff, and so, so worth the money.

Got a question: Has Kevin Steen lost some weight? Near the end he was packing it on Definitely. I didn't see the ppv, but I saw him last month at PWG: All-Star weekend 8 and he looked like 2006 Kevin Steen.

Finally got around to seeing this. The last two matches were really good, with the main event post match being some of the best material ROH has ever produced. Solid show top to bottom, but holy god, 4 hours is a bit much for an indie show.
I'm still not totally sold on Eddie Edwards... I mean, kid's solid, but that match was just taken to a ****1/2 level mostly due to Davey. Richards is just amazing on every level, and his post match promo was something else. He reminds me of Dynamite Kid, if he had a more well rounded offense. Four corner tag... swap out King and Titus for MCMG and that would be the greatest fourcorner tag ever.
Oh, and over the years, I've grown to mot be so into ROH crowds. What the hell were they chanting "You Still Got It" to Lethal for? HE'S 26 YEARS OLD FOR f***'S SAKE lol.

RD Evans was booked for Anarchy Championship Wrestling on Sunday night - he hid in disguise and attacked Portia Perez.

God, I wanted to punch that fat bitch with the ECW shirt on so much. She wasn't at the level that the screaming woman was at DBDVIII, but she came close. Yeah, sure...you're an ECW fan? She looked like she was only 6 when ECW was at it's prime. [/rant]

Hahahaha...the ROH forum has banned the use of the word Steen or Kevin Steen. If you type it in, a censor filter will appear in place. Just as the CHIKARA101 forums do so for Chris Hero.

Don't know why Hero is a taboo subject there - all that happened there was that UltraMantis Black used him as payment to get the Eye of Tyr.

Don't know why Hero is a taboo subject there - all that happened there was that UltraMantis Black used him as payment to get the Eye of Tyr. I actually kind of get this one. At another Chikara related forum, people would NOT shut up about "When his Hero coming back? Do you think he's coming back soon? Will he show up at this show as a huge surprise?" It got to be such a pain in the ass that it eventually got turned into a taboo subject. Dunno what the Kevin Steen thing's about, though.
