This is a bit of a long shot but has anybody seen Call of the Hunter (2009)? I like the myth it’s based on (who doesn’t like a ghost with Antlers?) and the few reviews it has online seem positive but the trailer shows how low budget is (25k apparently). Haven't seen it, but I could've sworn that somebody in this thread reviewed it some time ago. I vaguely remember making a "that sounds like Wendigo" remark in response (i.e., the "antler ghost").

I think Rorschach reviewed it (would be up his alley). I could be wrong, though.

For everyone interested (and thanks for the compliments), I went back and fixed all the errors in the HOF inductions. I copy and paste the text from a Word document, and for whatever reason this converted all apostrophes, quotation marks and hyphens into a bunch of different characters. As far as I know, this has never happened before. Bizarre.

someone want to explain to me why the hell Hellraiser 3 is the only one that's impossible to find on DVD? I found a double feature of HELLRAISER 3 and 4 at my local Wal-Mart in the 5 dollar bin. Found 3 by itself at my local Target (which is right across the street from my local Wal-Mart) for the same price. *shrug* STRANGE INVADERS (1983) - I had a LENGTHY review for this film typed out, but Proboards killed it dead. Let me see what I can do. After a young man gets attacked by a mysterious hand in Centerville, Illinois in 1958, we jump ahead 25 years and over to Columbia University, where Entomology Professor Charles Bigelow (Paul Le Mat, who also appears in PUPPET MASTER) is giving the first lecture of the semester. When Bigelow gets home, his ex-wife (played so robotically by Diana Scarwid, I immediately said "She's an alien" after her first line) leaves him with their daughter, saying her mother died and she has to attend the funeral in...Centerville, Illinois. After a bunch of time passes with no word from the ex-wife (her name's Margaret, by the way), Charles leaves his kid with his own mother and sets out to find his ex. Centerville proves to be most unwelcoming. The B&B manager Bigelow checks in with gets really agitated by the very idea that Bigelow will stay in town at all, the townsfolk claim to have never heard of Margaret or her mother, and when Bigelow's dog ends up missing, people would rather leave the room than give the man any help of all. Worst of all, when his car breaks down, somebody starts shooting lightning from their hands, exploding the damn thing! The professor steals somebody else's car and hightails it out of town, but not before seeing one of the aliens without their human disguise. Trouble is, nobody back home will believe Charles's story. Not his bosses at the college, not government officials who study UFOs and the like, not even a "reporter" at a Weekly World News-like tabloid. That reporter will believe soon enough, though, when some of the aliens have apparently followed Bigelow home to shut him up for good! Now Bigelow and this reporter have to figure out what the aliens are up to, what it has to do with Bigelow's daughter (whom they kidnap), and what they intend to do with Earth!Sadly, this film isn't nearly as fun as I may have accidentally made it sound. There's A LOT of "Centerville doesn't like Charles Bigelow" followed by A LOT of "nobody back home believes Charles Bigelow" with only a few good but brief special effects moments in between (seeing an alien remove their human disguise is wonderfully disgusting). Beyond that, there are plotholes that I probably wouldn't have cared about if there was more cool s*** going on. How does an alien woman (this was probably meant as a plot twist, but it felt painfully obvious right from the get-go) give birth to a human/alien baby without a doctor noticing something...weird? There's also an early scene with Bigelow and woman who seems to be his girlfriend, but that's the only scene she appears in, and that tabloid reporter I mentioned ends up being the primary love interest. And finally, we meet Professor Bigelow during the first lecture of his class at Columbia. Yet the rest of the film sees him running around out of town, and then when he gets back home doing a whole lot of not teaching. Shouldn't his bosses have something to say about that? Apparently the financial backers for the picture messed around with the script, resulting in a lack of forward plot momentum for roughly the first half. The second half sees things finally pick up steam, but if you've already soured on the first half, you probably won't care all that much. 2.2 stars out of 5. Again, the effects work is damn good, but the rest of the film rarely lifts itself up to match that quality. I have higher hopes for the other half of this double feature DVD, INVADERS FROM MARS. It's from the same combo that made the great LIFEFORCE (I know, I'm one of only a handful of people that actually like that movie): director Tobe Hooper, writers Dan O'Bannon and Don Jakoby, and it's a Golum-Globus production. Fingers crossed. And lastly (yeah, I know this is getting long-winded) it's a shame that they don't put out anymore Midnite Movies DVDs. Anything that would fit the mold would nowadays wind up as part of MGM's made on demand DVD-R service. Even if they just printed DVD boxart with the Midnite Movies logos on it for those discs, it would be something...but they can't even do that for me!

I was watching Galaxy of Terror blu-ray and... man did the suppporting characters surpass the main "leads"
leads - Eddie Albert Jr. (The son of the guy from Green Acres), Erin Moran (From Happy Days)
Supporting characters - Robert Englund (Pre-NOES), Sid Haig, Taaffee O'Connell (Infamous for the worm scene in this film), and Ray Walston.
Also this film is well known for having James Cameron and yes even Bill Paxton (before he began acting) working on the film.

Rented Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, as it's been so long since I've seen it and the talks of the newest installment sparked my interest. Going to dig out a few other horror flicks from my collection that I haven't watched yet and take the laptop outside when the sun goes down. Watching horror films in the middle of a summer night is an amazing experience!

Watched Trick r Treat and Amusement back to back because I wanted to compare them because they were both supposed to be released in theaters but kept getting delayed and eventually went straight to dvd. Trick r Treat I really liked the visuals, everything was bright and orangey and it looked really good but the movie was so so. Wasnt terrible but wasnt great either. Amusement was boring. It was like a bad Saw and Hostel knock off except less gory. Bad acting all around as well.

Thought she was aces as the former nun/Norman Bates love interest in Psycho III...and what happens to her in that movie is every bit as surprising/impactful as the shower scene from the Hitchcock original. Nice to see Paul Le Mat in something else, as well. I've legitimately NEVER seen the guy in any other movie outside the original Puppet Master.

I'm not entirely sure whether or not her robotic performance was intentional. Some other reviews referred to the film as a parody, but I certainly didn't find anything all that funny. *shrug*
But yeah, it's been awhile since I've seen PSYCHO III (I do have it on DVD, though) but I remember her being much better there.
He was also in the AMERICAN GRAFFITI films.

Even so, I had a blast watching the batshit insanity! Bill Moseley was excellent as Choptop. I also watched The Horror Show a.k.a. House III. It's essentially the same plot as Shocker, but much worse (I didn't like that one, either). Lance Henriksen did his best with the material, but he couldn't salvage this flaming pile of garbage.

I loved Trick r Treat (one of the best horror films of the naughties, in my opinion) Well I wasnt really a fan of the whole interlocking stories told out of sequence idea that they stole from Pulp Fiction. I need to see the movie again to figure it all out and I didnt want to see it again because I didnt like it that much. I just prefer the straight anthology stuff told chornologically like Creepshow.

Catriona MacColl and David Warbeck. It was recorded weeks before Warbeck died from cancer. It's like listening to two old friends talking about how much fun making the film was.

I don't know if I still have it somewhere, but I have a pretty rare and valuable uncut Dutch L'aldila (yes, I was that much of a Fulci nerd in the 90s) on VHS - I bet I divested myself of it during one of my moves, just like I did all the Italian 80s sword and sandal movies that turned out to be worth $70 each :-(
I do still have little glossy fanzines on The Beyond, John Morghen, and Laura Gemser, though - bet they're worth a bundle now.
