Condsidering all the garbage happening when Irvin was at "The U" he really doesn't have a leg to stand on. This. When I read Irvin's comments all I could translate was Irvin saying, "damn Nevin, why weren't you around when I was in school?!" Pretty much. With additional comments being "All we had was hookers and blow. We didn't get any money!"

Figured this was the best place to ask this. I'm running a college fantasy football league on CBS and we need 2 more owners. The draft is set for next Sunday. Let me know if interested.

I've been thinking about this, and I have to ask: would Miami getting the "death penalty" result in Florida State moving to the SEC?
Just... think about it. Florida State is in a good position right now in the ACC, but they aligned the divisions just so the two schools have a chance to meet in the conference championship. If Miami has no program, and thus no competent rival for the Seminoles, would that mean they could move over to the SEC just so they could get a chance to knock around Georiga and Florida?
I doubt it would have any bearings on their final decision, but then again, Texas A&M wants to move just to spite Texas, so they might have their own reason.

Rumors have it that Florida, Georgia and SC have a gentleman agreement that they will constantly shoot down any school that tried to enter the conference from their schools. So if Clemson came to vote, SC along with Georgia and FL will vote against it.

Nevermind on the CBS league. They offer a trial, but after that you have to pay $159.99 for a commissioner league. I'm not paying 160 bucks for a fantasy league.

I doubt FSU would move just because Miami wouldn't be on tv or have recruits for a few years. The death penalty is steep punishment but don't mean u stop playing football

Paul Finebaum radio show is reporting that Danny Sherridan is meeting with NCAA officials on who the "bagman" is between Auburn and the Newtons.

It's death for the season, it's literally is them saying "You cannot compete in this sport this season." When teams are inflicted with it, they can run drills, but that's it. They don't just lose recruiting power, scholarships, etc., it's all gone until the NCAA says so.

Yep, and if we go by what happened to SMU, the first season they lose everything completely, there is no season the first year of their punishment, the next season they can play, but only away games, they lose all of their home games the second season, and then I think SMU was allowed a full season starting their third year, but of course, thanks to the hit to scholarships, they sucked for a long time.

Ok look here, what I posted meant that a football program does not cease to exist forever if they are given "The Death Penalty". SMU as I recall went to a bowl game recently so my guess is that they actually have a football program. So in response to your first line; No that is not exactly what the death penalty means. The poster above explained it well but I reinterate that Miami is Miami. After whatever sanctions the NCAA places on them, they will have a huge football program because it is Miami and kids will still want to go there in 5 years. SMU got nailed bigtime and it hurt their program for more than a decade but they did not stop playing football forever.

Miami kids will go there just like Dallas kids did. And just like those Dallas kids, the really good ones will now go to Florida or Florida State like the ones that then went to OU/Texas and Tamu.

That's fine, the way you said it it sounded like you were saying "they won't be on TV and won't be able to recruit, but they'll still be playing football."
Had the word forever been at the end of your post, I would agree, because the death penalty doesn't, in fact, mean you stop playing it forever, just a season or two. It wasn't, and I took it to mean something else.
