Houston and Rice would not be the first choice as the rumors have it as Memphis, Louisville, TCU, Air Force, BYU etc... Houston would be a team to get them to the 14 level and not the 10/12 levels. And Rice makes Baylor look big. I believe it might end up the other way around, with Big 12 schools leaving the conference in favor of other conferences that seem to have bigger paydays for their athletic departments. I don't know what to think when schools want to forsake conference tradition because of cable networks, but it seems that it'll be the new norm, as the Big Ten, SEC, and Pac-12 have their own networks. If the Big 12 can't get a network for one school, even though the reasons were wrong, it just illustrates that the writing may be on the wall. Here's how I assume things will go if it involves complete dissolution of the Big 12: *Texas A&M goes to the SEC *Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State all go to the Pac-12 *Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, and Missouri can go to the Big East. Missouri still has an outside shot of making it to the Big Ten. *Baylor may either go to the SEC or would have to settle for Conference USA or (god forbid) the Sun Belt This is more of a local story, but here's the summary: "Kevin Wilson to Jack Trudeau: You suck!" www.indystar.com/article/20110811/SPORTS0601/110811015/There are those who believe Trudeau is right for making fun of IU and that Kevin Wilson is being a poor sport with a hot temper. However, I applaud Kevin Wilson for bitch-slapping a drunken lout who is only remembered in this city for being the quarterback when the Colts were the garbage of the NFL (at least Jeff George had some promise, but overhype took the better of him). How else do you take being put on hold while your program is being made fun of? I know Wilson is unfamiliar with the less-than-illustrative history of Indiana football (for good reason), but I do like somebody who isn't all mushy-headed like Bill Lynch and actually calls out the guy and tells it like it is. This makes me like Wilson more.

Texas, Tech and Okie schools will go PAC ( LHN is going to fail or evolve) But the Big East schools you have might be in a new conference. Last year there were rumors of the CUSA West willing to branch off and make a new conference with the remnants of the Big XII. So that would make travel easier on all partys, so that a Kansas would not have to go the Jersey and upstate New York. Kansas K State Iowa State Tulsa Memphis (CUSA East) ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ? Houston Rice UTEP Tulane Baylor SMU That is not a half bad Basketball conference, and far from the worst football one.

Yeah, that would look a whole lot better for those schools on a financial budget and would not illustrate that they were doing it just for football. As for the twelth member of that conference, I might suggest bringing in a Sun Belt school. It would be hell on them from an athletic standpoint, but it would improve their standing. I would either suggest North Texas or (if you want to take the best school) Troy. This would move Southern Methodist to the "north division" as you have it alligned.

Damn Slim, I'm sorry man... schadjoe Arkansas confirms Knile Davis (ankle) who has 1,485 rushing yards and scored 17 TDs out for season Yeah I know, I heard the official report this AM. Broken ankle. Dammit. Luckily they're not without depth and last year's starter Dennis Johnson ( before he suffered a chest injury in Week 2 that put him out and Knile emerged) and Ronnie Wingo are both capable of carrying the load. Major setback though.

Oddly enough, the only team I mentioned as possibly coming to the SEC, that I haven't heard mentioned in this is Georgia Tech.

You know, if it wasn't for the all the money in the league system, I'm surprised all the schools dissolve all the conferences and just create their own 12 game schedule. Nation Wide Independence from conferences. It'll get to that eventually I think. The idea of a conference is over-played.
Schedule your historical rivals, schedule big teams, schedule a cupcake or two. You get added profit from bringing in big team after big team, you get a ton of dream match-ups, plus yo uget the big important rivalry games. Money goes through the roof, expect for TV deals, which would plummet since there is no one conference to bid rights for.

I don't think it'll get quite that far, but I do see like four or five superconferences for lack of a better term.

That would be the only was to legitimize the BCS, since its defenders like pointing out "strength of schedule", and whoever decides to make the bulkiest schedule and comes of it would be a legit champion. But, I don't see it happening. It would most likely end up with four or five superconferences that have their own networks and money-making schools, and everyone else deciding to become indepentents.

Texas as an independent would be pretty cool.

But what's the point of a 20 team super-conference like what the Big East might get. Football becomes a nightmare and basketball becomes nearly impossible. Imagine a 20-24 team basketball tournament played out over 1 week. Football getting 4 division of 5, then a 4 team league play-off. It would be totally awful imo.
Just give the people what they want, which is the biggest games ever week and money will be made.

Since the Texas House of Reps are currently not in session, a special session has been called for Tuesday, August 16th specifically regarding A&M. In response, the TA&M Board of Regents has called a special emergency meeting on Monday, August 15th and added an item to the agenda. info.sos.state.tx.us/pls/pub/pubomquery$omquery.queryview?P_OM_ID=136885&Z_CHK=33600And there has been talk about a secret SEC meeting on Sunday. Looks like A&M has this move in the bag.

Todd_Wright Whoa! Jeff Tarpley of AggieYell.com just told me on air he hears via A&M sources that NORTH CAROLINA may be in the mix as SEC's 14th school.

Chapel Hill already cheat like an SEC school, however I doubt it's happening as there would be a revolt by the basketball faithful and they outnumber the football faithful.
Also, there's something to be said for the ACC's strong academic reputation. That doesn't mean crap to fans, but it does to administrators, presidents and chancellors.

I just don't see North Carolina joining the SEC. NC State maybe.
