+ Ugh do it already. Take your Wrestlemania payday against Taker, Hall of Fame ring, and all the money you saved up and retire. TNA is awful. 10 years ago I would have tuned in to any show to see Sting. 5 years ago even. Now I can't even be bothered to fast forward TNA. This.

I just don't buy it anymore. Every year he says the same thing, right down to how they were closer than ever, then re-signs with TNA. I don't think he's ever really wanted to be in WWE and is only using them to get better money out of Dixie/TNA. I sorta feel this way too. WWE would take him. They'd give him whatever he wants just for that one match at WM for Taker to beat him. If he wanted to he'd take it and go right back to TNA. He's just holding TNA up for more money and whatever else he wants to have. I'm sorta glad he never went to WWE....he's the one big name from the boom in the US who never sold out.

A lot of Stings legacy is the fact that he's (perhaps arguably) the biggest name to have never joined the WWE. Maybe he wants to cling onto that.

I'll say the same thing that I usually do anytime a Sting/WWE thread comes up.
I really believe Sting should "Sell out". McMahon owns enough footage of Sting to either bury him in obscurity or celebrate him forever. I truly believe in my heart of hearts that Vince is petty enough to let the former happen if Sting sticks to his principles and never signs even a "legends" contract.

I wouldn't wanna see Sting Taker at MaNia because there is no way in hell the face of the competition for 20 years would walk in and end The Streak. There would be no excitement about this match because anyone with half a brain would know who's winning.

I would agree that Vince would do that in a lot of cases but it seems there is a lot of respect both ways. I'm pretty sure Sting will get inducted in their HoF whether he wrestles a match in WWE or not. That's pretty much all the recognition Sting or anybody would want from a company he never wrestled for. As it is now with him still not signed to WWE and being an active headliner for another company, they still show his matches when they show old WCW card on their network. Now, if he wrestled for them he would likely get the deserved top billing at the HOF but they'll recognize him no matter what. Abudullah the Butcher never wrestled for WWE and he is not even fraction of the star Sting was and still is.

If I was him
I'd rather lose to Taker at the biggest stage of them all than win the TNA Championship against a drugged up wash out.

Sting has consistantly said, whenever asked, that McMahon has been all class when speaking to him over the past few years. I don't think he doubts so much that WWE's product is a probably to him anymore, certainly not with the PG shift, but TNA is just able to offer better in terms of location + pay and he genuinely seems to like trying to aid an underdog.
I do think that when he finally does call it a day, he'd be crazy to not at least get a WWE Legends deal going. There are several Sting matches now on various DVDs over the years and you just know they'd be all over a Sting DVD set like crazy, which is the proper legacy Sting needs. Show people what the guy could do in his prime.

Sting knows that TNA is afraid of him leaving, so he uses it to his advantage around Mania time to get a new sweetheart deal. I'm wondering what he's going to do this year since Dixie said this is his final year of active competition? Probably be like Hogan and make himself part of a big angle in order to keep himself around.

I'd love to see Sting in WWE, he is one of the very last guys from the previous generation who could still have some big money marquee matches that we've literally never seen before.
But at the same time, as a fan of ECW and WCW before WWE, I would really love Sting to retire as the one man who never needed Vince McMahon to be a star.

From a selfish standpoint, Id kill for a 3 disc Sting DVD and legends figure.

i dunno i could see UT saying this year's WM is his last and stopping at 20-0 and a year down the line Sting coming in to the WWE and calling 'Taker out saying he's not done yet.
the fan in me is mad that Sting stayed in TNA (altho i am digging his GM role, and the way he plays it, makes Roode look that much stronger in contrast)
but the man in me is happy that Sting is loyal to TNA and wants it to succeed.
the kid in me loves the frosted side.

He said "very" x 2. That leads me to believe he was really close this time. I agree he should just do the deal already as well.

Not only that, but I would pitch this idea to the writers: Sting as the guy who breaks 'Taker's steak.

I think it's just too late now. Last year was the last chance really and it didn't happen. I think the only chance of us seeing Sting in the WWE is if he gets inducted into the Hall Of Fame.
Obviously I hope I'm wrong.

Vince can never bury Sting, and I doubt he wants to, if he released a best of DVD that trashed Sting it would not go down well. The main reason I think Sting hasn't gone to WWE and didn't sign last year is he doesn't need the money or the ego stroke anymore, and I doubt he gives a crud about the HoF ring. His main priority for years has been to get the next generation over. I remember an old story I read once from Stings WCW days, Palumbo and O'Haire while part of the natural born thrillers did this bit where they picked an opponant up and tossed him into the ring from the floor over the top rope. Now Sting wanted them to do it to him, one of the road agents told him not to try it as he was a major name and might hurt himself he said 'But I just want to get these kids over'.
If he wanted more money he could earn it in WWE and if he wanted to appear in front of tens of thousands of fans at wrestlemania vs the undertaker he could do, but he doesn't need it anymore. He wants TNA to succeed, however misguided some people seem to think that is, and I fail to see why thats a bad thing.

I wonder what kind of reaction Sting would get in WWE today considering that a lot of the audience probably doesn't even know who he is. Would they accept him just coming in and entering into a high profile match against The Undertaker or any other main eventer?
