www.pwmania.com/artman/sting-says-he-almost-joined-wwe-wants-to-face-the-undertakerSting appeared on 97.9/105.5 KISS-FM on Thursday to promote Impact Wrestling at Wembley Stadium. Highlights from the interview are as follows: Which wrestler he’d like to face that he hasn’t yet: “I’d have to say the top one… Undertaker. I think wrestling fans have wanted to see Sting vs. Undertaker for years. I think between his gimmick and mine, it could be pretty cool. We could do some pretty cool stuff.” If he has any regrets over not joining WWE: “Yes and no. Who wouldn’t want to say that they’ve done at least one WrestleMania? I’m not going to lie to you, I wish I had done one of those. I’ve had great conversations with him [Vince McMahon] over the years and been real close on three or four different occasions. There was always a need met or desire of mine met with WCW or with TNA, so I stayed.” When was the last time he almost joined WWE: “Last year… we were very, very close.” The audio interview is available here

Ugh do it already. Take your Wrestlemania payday against Taker, Hall of Fame ring, and all the money you saved up and retire. TNA is awful. 10 years ago I would have tuned in to any show to see Sting. 5 years ago even. Now I can't even be bothered to fast forward TNA.

For the love of God just go to the WWE and have a mania match. No one wants to see you fight drug addled Jeff Hardy in TNA

Maybe Luger could talk him into it, since he works with WWE's Wellness Department and he's Sting's BFF?

By the way about what I mentioned here is what Luger said like a year ago: On Sting's longevity, Luger said, "I think him and Undertaker...their particular personas in wrestling are timeless. The fans continue to love their characters. I joke with Sting, he’s able to cover up with the jackets and paraphernalia like Undertaker. Their characters make them incredibly timeless." On the TNA product, Luger said, "I’ve heard people tell me that, and I tuned in to a couple of their shows recently and there is definitely some questionable content...I’m gonna have to bring that up to him. I’m gonna have to ask him about it." source: www.pwtorch.com/artman2/publish/WWE_News_3/article_49843.shtml

As true as this whole thing is, you could have stopped at the first sentence and still have been right. Have that Mania match, that Taker match, and get out while you can still walk on your own! Needless to say, I don't think it'll ever happen. It'll probably end up like Rock/Michaels; that dream match that, for whatever reason, will never happen. And that makes me a sad panda.

This isn't really news. Last year he said that he almost went to WWE to face Taker at Mania.

Honestly, I think if The Rock wanted a match with HBK, and HBK wanted it too, NO ONE - not Vince, Undertaker, any of the wrestlers in the back or any of the fans - would fault Shawn for it, and what's more is I think if Vince and The Rock were serious about the idea, Shawn would do it. On top of that, Shawn seems to be pretty serious about his retirement, so it'd be a legitimate "one more match" thing, and for VERY understandable reasons. In short, I wouldn't COMPLETELY rule out that we'll ever see Rock/Michaels, ESPECIALLY once The Rock needs another big match after the initial novelty of his return/match with Cena is gone.

For the love of God just go to the WWE and have a mania match. It wouldn't be just 1 Mania match, he's got 2. Obviously the match against Taker, and there's also Sting vs Cena. And then there's big payday matches against Triple H, and Orton.

I don't see sting against taker as a big dream match, maybe 10 or 15 years ago, but not now. As much as I like current sting, he has no place in WWE, he still screams WcW. His name and experience are needed much more in TnA (WcW. 2.0) than his occasional prescence in WWE. I think he fits and should stay where he's at.
He did say before he wouldn't work for the E' because of the vulgarity in the product. I've heard more bleeps and adult words/themes in Tna since sting has been there, more than I've heard in the E' in the past decade. Kinda strange.

I would still like to see this match, but I would have loved to have seen it any time between 1991 and 1995.

The match probably wouldn't be very good these days, but I want to see it solely for the spectacle of Sting and Taker facing off in a huge ass arena with people going nuts at Wrestlemania.

I just don't buy it anymore. Every year he says the same thing, right down to how they were closer than ever, then re-signs with TNA. I don't think he's ever really wanted to be in WWE and is only using them to get better money out of Dixie/TNA.
