I wouldn't be surprised if Hero came up with this name himself however. Kassius (After Cassius Clay) Ohno (A popular surname in Japan, reflecting his time spent wrestling in Japan) and the KO initials (That young Knock Out kid)
Personally I think it's a well put together name. However if you have a look at the pictures FCW have up of him, I dont think he's getting called up any time soon until he gets into WWE shape.

HERO MAKES WWE DEVELOPMENTAL DEBUT by Mike Johnson @ 8:05 PM on 2/16/2012
Kassius Ohno, the artist formerly known as Chris Hero, debuted at FCW TV tonight, losing to Xavier Woods and laying him out after the match. I was told Ohno looked really good.

I think it is pretty silly how people are overreacting about the name (especiall on twitter.....speaking of which, the 'facepalm' thing needs to die), considering that I have the feeling that he personally picked it. If he was 'saddled' with the name, I doubt he'd be writing the initials on his wristband/ have the KO initials at all. I think it's more so that people grew so attached to his indie name, which is understandable.
I think it's going to grow on people. I love Bryan Danielson, but Daniel Bryan is just fine. I wasn't totally sold on Dean Ambrose (especially with his real name, "Jonathan Goode" being a perfect heel name) but it has grown on me as well. I'm just happy that WWE is boasting a growing collection of wrestlers on the main roster and developmental that are so talented.
If you were to tell someone in 2007 that in five years, the WWE system would have:
-CM Punk -Matt Sydal -Dos Caras Jr. -Bryan Danielson -Claudio Castagnoli -Chris Hero -Consequences Creed -Amazing Kong -Tyler Black -Mistico -Jon Moxley -Sterling James Keenan -Richie Steamboat -Britani Knight (Sweet Saraya's daughter)
you would have probably told them they are crazy

It's not so much the names as it is that the business is so dead in the US, compared to what it used to be, that no one can keep their "identities" and get transformed into something else so WWE owns them forever.
It's lame and it's a denial that anything else exists.

It's lame and it's a denial that anything else exists. I don't even mind that they come up with names for themselves. It's better than the other way, where the Dudleys can't call themselves the Dudleys anymore. They just have to stop with the derpy names that don't even fit the wrestlers. I may be biased, but I came up with much better names for my madeup wrestlers in my e-fed than they have.

It's lame and it's a denial that anything else exists. I can see this point, and I think if the business was more alive, we probably would see more acknowledgment, but I mean, I don't know if we can really only blame that on WWE. You can't blame WWE for winning the war. Even with Vince and co.'s massive faults and inconsistencies, I would rather trust the majority of the wrestling biz in his hands rather than Turner's or Bischoff if WCW had won. Now that WWE is a brand like the sports leagues or Apple Computers, it wants to have its own entities. I know, it feels a little too corporate for its own good, but I mean, I understand why they want to do what they do from a business standpoint as far as "identities" are concerned. And your last point, I think the fact that Hero and Claudio were scouted and signed at all shows that WWE isn't so close minded and oblivious as we assume.

His new Twitter account is Kassius Ohno, which was just a renaming. He did make a backup at @thechrishero, "to save for a rainy day".

Maybe the name was inspired in part by Masahiro Chono.
