Both Michael and Lucifer went out like jobbers. Sheesh. In season 5 they were very terrifying. One could argue they were being weakened as Jack was syphoning their energy. And in Michael's case he jobbed out to God which is like being in a match against the head booker. Also, both were caught by surprise. Lucifer didn't know that Michael had the Archangel Blade, & Michael thought that he was back in God's good graces, the favorite again, so he didn't think that God would smite him.

It seems like every time a character is brought back on the show they're killed off in an instant. Two most powerful archangels gone in a flash, in the same episode. It's all about killing instead of character building with the writers lately.

I get that, but still, they should've left the archangels alone in Lucifer's cage. They would still be alive. Lucifer was never the same since his escape back in season 11. They turned him into a caricature. Lucifer's character was cold, calm, cunning and menacing in season 5. As for Michael, he'd hardly served much to the God-goes-evil plot. Why revive strong characters just to off them in no time? Beats me.

Why revive strong characters just to off them in no time? Beats me. Probably to give the fans closure. So they won't be left wondering what happened to character x, they include them. I'm in the camp that being jobber squashed by Almighty God really doesn't make any of the Archangels look weak.

Lucifer was brought back to show how desperate God was to get Death's Book, & Michael was all in on stopping his dad, but Lucifer's "favorite son" comment made him really jealous, making him wanna get back daddy's approval, which Sam & Dean saw. Plus, fans reeeeeaaaallyy wanted Adam/Michael to return this season.

That was more How I Met Your Mother than it was Agents of SHIELD.
Supernatural, that's not a good way to go out.

TOO SAD
Definitely would have preferred a happy(er) ending after everything. Dean getting the jobber death was lame. He went from fistfighting God to dying at the hands of goobers. And I REALLY wanted Cas to come back somehow.
Still got me crying though.
And right now I kind of wish it had ended with last week's episode. I have to digest this more.
And did Sam marry Eileen?

I actually kind of dug that if Dean was going to die, after everything he'd been through, it'd be to something simple and random. Not Chuck, not leviathans, not Billie... something you can't prepare for; something a human would die from. It struck a chord with me.
In a perfect world, they would have shut the trunk of the impala and rode off into the sunset to carry on (no pun intended) with their journey, running the family business. But that's kind of too easy for this show, and I get that. Each of them got what they wanted, but with a catch. It felt appropriate in a way.
And I loved that, outside of Bobby for a minute or two, the episode was only Sam and Dean. For me, the show has always been about them. There are many others along the way that I grew to really care for, and see as family the way the brothers did, but ultimately this is their story. It started with just them, and it should end with just them.
I'm going to miss this show immensely.

I like to think that Sam & Eileen did get married, and got to settle down & have a family, with Dean & Miracle.

I'm starting to wish that it had been human Chuck that set up the vampire trap or hired an assassin to go after Dean instead of a phantom banana peel slip into farm equipment.
Or that Dean had one last bit of character growth and gave up on the idea that he had to die in combat instead of having a family and actually retired and had a family. I would have much preferred that.

With a couple tweaks, I probably would've liked it more, even though someone mentioned it was almost exactly the same ending as Vampire Diaries and now I can't stop thinking about that. Heh.
