Its simple really, Rock is all sizzle and no steak. I'm 100% on Cena's side!

By the way, why did Cena leave anyway? It was kinda weird.

Rock was kind of played out. Cena's promo was more genuine. It seemed like we got a neutered Rock tonight. I hope next week is better.

I just went and watched it due to being asleep last night.
So I'm not seeing this apparent consensus. Cena said "you'll make your boobs bounce" for christ's sake. I think I'm certainly staying away from the IWC for parts of this one, because the WWE are certainly working the hell out of them by putting Cena in favour with them.

Once again listening to the wisdom of my inner mark, who likes to believe that pro wrestling is still about settling differences inside the squared circle:
One guy comes out and spends eighteen minutes musing on the past, cracking jokes, claiming to be the best entertainer, harping on his internet popularity and inspiring the crowd to chant silly things. Other guy comes out, gets in a few quick jabs about the theatrics, then says "I don't like you and I'm going to beat the hell out of you".
Not hard to pick a winner there. "Vain celebrity obsessed with Twitter" does not rank particularly highly on my personal Badass-O-Meter.

Its absolutely amazing booking. The Rock is going to be cheered regardless in Miami and Cena is going to get booed. But the way this angle's been booked, Cena is going to come out of this looking amazing, regardless of whether he wins or loses. Pure genius.

Cena all the way. All The Rock did was rehash all the same old s*** we saw coming in 2004. Agreed. Cena was way better.

Team Edward! No, wait...Team Jacob!
Seriously though, 'kung pao bitch'? Seriously lame. Cena won this round, for what that's worth.

Check this newz out - John Cena in backstage fight with Dwayne Johnson over comments John made about Promo notes on wrist! John and Dwayne got into a real fight backstage, where Dwayne confronted John about comments John made about his promo notes on his wrist. From what's being said, Johnson took down Cena and there was some punches thrown and then WWE officials had to break it up. Right after the fight, John went in Vince's office and demanded a contract release and Vince said no. They were both sent packing. I don't know about you guyz but this sounds like it is getting crazzy! This, of course, will lead directly into the final moments of the Rock/Cena match with The Rock locked into the sharpshooter, Earl Hebner (back for one night only) turning to Vince at ringside who starts screaming: "Ring the bell!"

I'm really confused by this 'Dwayne Johnson is an accomplished actor' stuff. No, he really isn't. He appears as the big tough guy in every movies he's ever been in (apart from be cool, which was god awful). He's never done theatre stuff or played a subtle roll, he's just an action guy, I have no problem with that, but it doesn't mean he's suddenly an Oscar winner or an 'accomplished actor' who can pull off stuff like this. His roll as The Rock was never subtle or underplayed and he's never done that kind of roll in the movies either.

Haven't looked through the thread yet, but Rock had me until he started rambling about making things trend.
Cena was good though, and the "promo notes" line was pure OH NO HE DIDN'T! stuff.
Enjoyable segment, but I honestly couldn't give a donkey's nutsack about Rock's ability to make random childish statements trend. This feud to me is no deeper than "you're not always here"/"but when I am I make things trend", which isn't making me emotionally invested at all.

Sigh.
I thought Rock's promo was good. A quick read shows me that no one else agrees. Forget it. He combined genuine emotion/anger (which I thought was what we wanted to see) with his catchphrases/trending worldwide (because otherwise it wouldn't be a Rock promo - even though I do hate the whole Twitter obsession).
And Cena is just repeating the same tired points over and over and over and over and over...to hell with it. It's a terrible feud considering its potential anyway.

I enjoyed it a lot, he answered all of Cena's points in vintage Rock style and he captivated the audience so that wins bonus points. And yeah, the WWE are trying to make Cena appear equal by neutering the Rock somewhat yet Rocky gets cheered and Cena booed in no uncertain terms. They're trying to get the smark vote by allowing Cena to seem like the straight up straight talking bad-ass, when it's nothing but a corporate shill character recycling his material wholesale after it's been answered already. It's similar to Cena's in ring style; he'll win almost all the time with little selling going on at the end, and kids will love him. It's just the smark promo awareness version. People are falling for it which is quite enjoyable. We're all marks and it's fabulous!

I want some wrestler to tell Cena that he doesn't speak for "all the boys in the back", and to stop acting like it. Miz does that basically.

My ears are deaf to whatever Cena says. So have to go with the Rock on this poll.

Rock has made the internet like Cena. For that, he is a God.

I thought Cena did well tonight because he actually said something new, which he hadn't all year. That was my problem with people acting like he broke new ground last week, he didn't, it was the same material that he now delivered in a worked-shoot rather than as a battle rap or as a comedy promo or as a candid promo to live crowds. Tonight he actually cut a promo without resorting to it, and I thought it worked. Just like I thought it worked that Rock actually did respond to everything he said in the first third of his promo.

Yes! I have a great counter-point, but it would take a long time to post and I'm tired and don't want to type anymore. Also, I have to think of it. Sure. In today's heavily scripted environment lame comeback lines are fed to face wrestlers all the time. While prior to that wrestlers were just given bullet points for the most part. Only the very top guys are given complete freedom on the mic. Austin, HBK, HHH, Taker, Foley, Punk, Orton, Rock and Cena all have this freedom. Some abuse this and go into business for themselves (HHH and HBK). Others make the best of it and create countless classics (Austin, Foley, Rock, Punk, etc). The rest drop the ball and deliver unmemorable promos with the scarce good one here and there (Cena, Orton, Taker, etc.) Now compare the creativity and entertainment displayed in the Rock's best promos compared to Cena's, one could deduct that on a even playing field of scripting that Rock would most likely perform better. Rock's 'creativity' was basically the same thing he did on RAW. Make up a silly putdown and have the fans go crazy for it. My point doesn't change. At all. The only way to really know who's better is to have guys just go out an shoot on each other all the time. Until then, the 'Its supposed to be this way' element is always there. Nash was supposed to look stupid so Punk can look amazing, they were pushing him. Austin and Rock were supposed to come out looking like gods, they were the headliners. It really just seems like some excuse to not give the guy any credit. His opponents have generally been allowed to go at him in a way they've never let people go after their 'top guy', and yet he wasn't 'destroyed' like people assumed he would be.

The second Rock said "Kung Pao Bitch" Cena had him beat. And Cena hadn't even stepped out yet.
It's not 2000 Rock. Find something new.
