Marshall Pruett reports Graham Rahal to leave Ganassi at season's end.I wish I could say I'm surprised, but something in the chemistry just isn't right there. I really, really want Kid Rahal to get it together, since I've been cheering for him since his rookie season in '07, and cheered for his old man when I was growing up. This, in my opinion, would be an appropriate time for him to go race at RLL. The strides they're making as a team with Sato are showing them to be a threat to the Big Three if they can find the funding, and since Rahal brings his own sponsorship and had to earn his stripes the hard way (unlike a third generation race driver racing for Papa Warbucks at present), this might be the time for father and son to team up and go win some races. I don't see him at Penske...though that would make me mark the f*** out right away if it happened.

Really good race at Mid-Ohio, especially considering it was at Mid-Ohio. Hunter-Reay's day went downhill in a hurry, first with engine troubles causing him to drop like a rock, a lengthy pit stop to try and fix the problem, going off-course for a bit, and then just limping around so they could get enough laps to not finish last. Lots of nice passes going on, some good runs throughout the field that unfortunately didn't lead to good results. James Jakes had worked up to the top-ten at one point but needed a splash of fuel that dropped him down. Power and Dixon were big winners today, with Hunter-Reay and Castroneves spending most of the race in the back of the field.
If I'm doing my math right and barring any unforeseen DNS or drivers missing a race, all drivers out of the top-ten in the series championship are now mathematically out of contention. The remaining contenders with three races remaining:
1) Will Power / #12 Team Penske / Australia / 379 points 2) Ryan Hunter-Reay / #28 Andretti Autosport / United States / 374 points 3) Helio Castroneves / #3 Team Penske / Brazil / 353 points 4) Scott Dixon / #9 Target Chip Ganassi Racing / New Zealand / 351 points 5) James Hinchcliffe / #27 Andretti Autosport / Canada / 316 points 6) Simon Pagenaud / #77 Schmidt/Hamilton Motorsports / France / 311 points 7) Tony Kanaan / #11 KV Racing Technology / Brazil / 307 points 8) Dario Franchitti / #10 Target Chip Ganassi Racing / Scotland / 271 points 9) Ryan Briscoe / #2 Team Penske / Australia / 267 points 10) Graham Rahal / #38 Chip Ganassi Racing / United States / 256 points
Power, Dixon, Castroneves, and Hunter-Reay are still in contention for the road/street course championship, with two races remaining.

What happened to Dario? He was like the man of Indycar for the last 3 or so years. Now he's not even in contention.

Now he's as bad as he was in NASCAR (just kidding). Anyways, what about that young whippersnapper Jeff Gordon huh? And Kasey Kahne second with a FLAT TIRE!

What happened to Dario? He was like the man of Indycar for the last 3 or so years. Now he's not even in contention. I'd say it's partly the new car not being as suited to his driving style as the old one, a little misfortune, and a few cases of driver error. He had a rough beginning to the year, finishing 13th, 10th, 15th, 5th before Indianapolis. He won at Indianapolis obviously, and followed it up with 2nd in Detroit. He's started either 2nd or 1st in every race since, but has finished in the top-ten only once in that stretch, a 6th-place in Edmonton. He had mechanical problems at Texas and Iowa, crashed at Milwaukee, botched a pit stop at Toronto, and damaged his front wing running into the back of people at Toronto and Mid-Ohio. It seems like he got the new car figured by Brazil but now can't seem to stay out of trouble on the track.

That's a nice spreadsheet. I keep one too, though mine is to track race and champion results. Here's something for yours though: www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/101754Barrichello is looking to leave KV Racing and join one of the Honda teams next year. I would think Ganassi as the most likely but that's pure speculation.

Wasn't this more or less confirmed a few months ago when Dodge shut down the development and production of the new Dodge race cars for next season?

What a damn finish! I hate the luck Kyle is having this year but damn that was amazing. Just wish NASCAR would put a road course in the Chase.
