And thus sayeth NASCAR: Chad Knaus is suspended 6 races and fined $100,000, Ron Malec the car chief also gone 6 races and the 48 team loses 25 points leaving them at -23 on the short season. Hendrick has already announced they'll appeal based on NASCAR not actually testing the parts. via jeff_Gluck: "In this case... the system broke down and we will voice our concern through the appeal process" I am not a fan of Jimmie by any means when I say this, but I think it's bulls***. Here's what happened: Before the Budweiser Shootout FIRST PRACTICE, all teams were ordered to show their Daytona 500 cars. Jimmie had has shown, and the fin over the c pillar was taken off because "NASCAR didn't like it". It wasn't illegal, it apparently met measurements, but it was shaped slightly differently, and thus NASCAR confiscated it. The car wasn't on track once at this point, didn't complete a lap of practice let alone race. Essentially, Jimmie and Chad did nothing wrong, but NASCAR rules with such an iron fist now that ANYTHING that is at the very least 'suspicious' is taken out back with an metal bar. Now it should be also known that Chad, who even though he is a proven cheater, wasn't sent home during this because the car hadn't been on track yet. In 2006 a similar thing happened and Chad was sent home because the car already made laps on the track. Smokey Yunick weeps in his grave. OK, didnt know any of that. Kinda chuckled when I read the original article...not cuz of any hatred for Jimmy, just because Chad may be the worse at the whole "if u aint cheatin u aint trying" deal. Reading that though....very crappy

Huge breaking news in NASCAR: Penske Racing is leaving Dodge to partner with Ford for the 2013 season leaving Dodge without a team and having spent millions developing the 2013 Dodge Charger and were about to unveil it. Article: SPEED.com has confirmed that Penske Racing will announce a switch from Dodge to Ford for the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup season and beyond. Penske will make the formal announcement at 11:30 a.m. ET today. The timing of the blockbuster announcement is nothing less than shocking: Dodge is set to unveil its 2013 Sprint Cup Charger at Las Vegas Motor Speedway next weekend, with Penske its only frontline team. Dodge representatives declined comment on the move. Penske Racing campaigned Fords in the Sprint Cup Series from 1994-2002, before switching to Dodges for 2003. As a team, Penske has won 71 Sprint Cup races in 1,503 starts dating back to 1971. Penske’s first foray into NASCAR was with the now-defunct American Motors and its Matador coupe. The team also campaigned Pontiacs in the late 1980s and early '90s.

Huge breaking news in NASCAR: Penske Racing is leaving Dodge to partner with Ford for the 2013 season leaving Dodge without a team and having spent millions developing the 2013 Dodge Challenger. Not only that, but the Kasey Kahne Racing World of Outlaws (410 Sprint Racing) team ditched Mopar engines for use in their cars in favor of the more standard Chevrolet power plants. Dodge is well and truly f***ed, when it comes to American oval-track racing.

Yeah and after doing a little digging, they will still have 2 teams in the Nationwide and 1 in Truck series and of those, its MacDonald Motorsports in Nationwide and Jennifer Jo Cobb Racing in the Trucks.

Nice. Looking forward to seeing how he does during the season. My guess is that he has a rough go at the Ovals this season, but does very well on the road courses. Maybe he gets a win on one of them.

I can see him contending for the championship if he figures the ovals out well enough. He probably won't have too much difficulty at Indianapolis or Milwaukee, maybe Iowa. Texas and Fontana might be more difficult.

Seeing Jimmie Johnson listed in last place with -23 points is absolutely cracking me up right now. Strange things on NASCAR's page...heh.

I haven't followed the Truck Series in a couple years. When did they cut down the schedule to half? They don't even run Daytona anymore it seems.

They ran last week at Daytona but are off the next 3 I think. Basically, no one outside of Childress can afford to run more than the 22 I think it is races they are this season. There are just no major sponsorships out there. They can get enough to cover 1 or 2 races but not many more.

Good god, the guys singing the National Anthem SUCK. I've given up on NASCAR ever having anyone sing the anthem worth a damn. Loved the enthusiasm that Suh had for the command though.
