Next time my kids tell me " dad there is a black widow spider in the bathroom" I'll believe them. *shudders*. So, after literally a half hour battle in which I stood in the tub and 1. sprayed it with water. 2.Shot it with OFF! 3. literally screamed when she fell from her web {im still in the shower 6 ft away} 4. doused her in cleaning solution and finally flailed at her wildly with a broom...the beast is dead. And I'll be having nightmares. God I f***ing hate those things.

Get a paper towel, and fold it over about 3 or 4 times, and smush it. It probably couldn't even get its fangs through to inject venom, assuming it even saw it coming.
I have never really been afraid of spiders, though a black widow has got to be pretty creepy to find in your shower.

Why didn't you just squish it with the bottle of OFF! when the actual product itself failed to work?

I've had similar battles with some nasty spiders in my basement before. Somehow it will always be on a day when I have sandals on and the spider will be chilling right by the stairs after I turn to come back up. I've thrown many, many things across that basement to take care of business. Struck one with a quarter once to at least stun it. That was one in a million from the distance.

Why didn't you just squish it with the bottle of OFF! when the actual product itself failed to work? That would have required me to get close to it or throw a metal cannister near my window. |

Hmmm usually black widows spiders only look for a moist humid place like a bathroom or basement to lay it's eggs which can produce up to 80 live offspring. But at least you got the big one!

Hmmm usually black widows spiders only look for a moist humid place like a bathroom or basement to lay it's eggs which can produce up to 80 live offspring. But at least you got the big one! I murdered the eggs. And I hate you. |

I'm okay with the ones who live in webs because chances are I'll always know where they are. Now when it comes to the ones that live on walls, ceilings, floor etc. I have a big problems. Especially when they can get so big. We had this gigantic Huntsman in our house a week aho. It was very similar to this beast:  *Shudders* Everyday I'd make sure to scout the house looking for it. Just so it wouldn't get a chance to freak me out by catching me off guard. |

Even the cute in a really ugly way platypus has spurs on their hind legs that can kill you. The male ones have the spurs, but I don't think the females do. |

When there's no spray, I use hot boiling water. Works like a charm everytime.
