Dedicated Wrestler? What would Cena be doing that would give him anything close to what the Rock got when he left the business? Or anything close to what he's currently getting in the WWE? Do you think Cena would stay if he had choices that would be as lucrative and grand as what the Rock left for? Maybe he would, doesn't Vince McMahon own his name? I had heard him say something like that. Isn't that why The Rock goes by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in his films? Dwayne established himself in the WWF with "The Rock" character, with the help of the WWF. He gained notoriety for himself, and for the company, they both made large amounts of money for each other, and in return Rock got one hell of a fan following and reputation, he used this to establish himself as a successful actor, regardless of the quality of his films, they gross well, for the most part. He comes back, and now they're comparing him to Cena in terms of who cares more about the business? What does Cena have outside of this business? His films are financed by the WWE, his rap album is financed by the WWE, he's got his Gillette advertising contract but that too is probably contingent on him being in the WWE. He's got a great salary, he's got a huge following, and the WWE is profiting off of it. If he thought he could go elsewhere and do more, don't question his ambition, he made it to the top of the company, even if I don't particularly think he should be there. Don't think that people just turn off their ambition once they get to the top, if Cena had the same options as the Rock, he'd seriously have to weigh those options. I don't think John Cena has those options. Are you saying that you would be completely supportive of CM Punk or Daniel Bryan or Dolph Ziggler retiring tomorrow because they found satisfaction with their lives and no longer wanted to damage their bodies? Quite frankly, you'd be an asshole if you weren't.

Yeah, I'd miss seeing them, but when it's time to retire, it's time. I'd rather have everyone retire like Edge; not completely broken down, and on their own terms. As opposed to Ric Flair, who has become a parody of himself at this point and shows no sign of stopping. I'm not sure if Edge is a good example seeing as how he was FORCED to retire instead of being wheelchair bound his whole life. Infact, I point to Edge as a good example of WHY wrestlers should hang it up before their bodies detorate. The Rock had THE perfect career. Known as one of the all time greats, one of the headliners of an era, AND retired in full health. How anyone can have a problem with that I will never know, honestly.

You know what, you're right... but I also wouldn't be cheering for them if they returned to the ring for a big pay/publicity day against a guy who has been working his ass off every week for years with no quit. Which is exactly the situation here.

So that's why the Rock came back for this WM payday.

But it's hard to deny he's enjoying himself and judging by his tweets to TNA and ROH wrestlers, he hasn't lost his passion in wrestling. I just don't understand why some people feel like he "has no right" to be doing this.

I don't feel much of a connection to him.

I don't feel much of a connection to him. Seems like a fair point to me. I stopped watching wrestling altogether in 2004 just as Cena was climbing his way up the ladder. Rock was a part of my childhood growing up, and he was always my "favourite" wrestler at that time. When I came back to WWE in 2009, Cena was the face of the company and had become (at least what it looked like), a shell of himself who pandered to the fans at any given opportunity. I immediately grew a dislike to him, and I didn't watch all that often. I started regularly again around the middle of 2010 as I was gripped by the Nexus storyline. But really, I've only stuck round due to the fact Rock came back (even though I wasn't entirely impressed by WM27 and his involvement). Needless to say, as Rock was "my guy" growing up and I've never been a fan of Cena...then I have no desire to cheer for Cena over Rock.

So that's why the Rock came back for this WM payday. What do you mean? I was wondering why the Rock would come back to wrestling. I knew it was for a nice little payday, but its pretty clear his short run in WWE this year as a "wrestler" will pay for this house and then some. Nice one Rocky - you are the champ.

I just see it as "Does this guy entertain me more than the other guy?"

I find it difficult to believe why someone would want to purchase a home SO expensive. However, I would have a hard time passing up a home that has it's own theatre. ;D A lot of the time, it's seen as an investment as much as anything else. Maybe it's going to be renovated and become... THE SMACKDOWN HOTEL!

Per Edge's own words, he was going to retire within a year anyway. The injury just sped things up.

Or maybe he had the money saved and bought the house w/ that money. Don't hate the man if he's making some money for his WM match.

Cena's loyalty is a detriment to my entertainment value - by doing the same shit mostly for the past several years, I'm burned out on him.
Rock though - he's fresh. He took a long break, and doesn't hang out every week to spread himself too thin.

Capitalize on your work in Hollywood to negotiate a larger payday than any working wrestler to further fund your exorbitant lifestyle. We should all be so crafty.

I don't care how he paid for it, I just want to know where the hell I can get a bar like that.

The bar, swimming pool and theater are the highlight of the house. It's definitely something I'd liked to own.
