Maybe a Horsemen-type stable consisting of Flair, Perfect, Austin and heel Sid to feud with the likes of Hogan, Savage, Bret and Piper? Perfect was already out with an injury at this point and managing Flair though Can't a man dream?!

From November 2, 1995"
WCW has "World War III" on 11/26/95. Tentative line-up has:
* a 60-man three ring battle royal (involving WCW wrestlers and wrestlers from New Japan) with the winner earning a title shot at the WCW Title
The battle royal is being hyped as having a giant in every ring, which I guess means The Giant, El Gigante, and Ron Reis, who will apparently get a new gimmick once Gigante is able to work (visa trouble) as the Yeti.
-----------------------------------------------
Apparently at some point they were gonna bring in El Gigante to play the part of the Yeti but visa troubles (if any of this was true) kept that from happening.

I was not aware of that. Well even back then, We had a pretty good idea who had the best chance of winning, and who was just there. Kinda neat concept though, I'll have to look up one of those battle royals

All of these are actual newz stories from Herb Kunze's Wrestling Tidbits column. October 25, 1991 Steve Austin's contract with WCW ends in November and apparently he hasn't signed a deal with the company yet. So, if negotiations fall through he may end up dropping the title to Dustin Rhodes at Halloween Havoc. There are already rumours that "the Stunning One, the Stunmeister, the Stunman, the St-St-St-St-St-Stunster himself" as Diamond Dallas Page called him in one of his more redundant moments will be jumping to the WWF. ---------------------------------- Now think about this one. Stunning Steve Austin jumping ship to the WWF in 1991. Years before the Austin 3:16 speech, ECW, the Hollywood Blondes, etc. Just think of how the entire landscape of wrestling could have been changed had he not resigned with WCW and stuck around for a few more years. Meh, this is 91-92 we're talking about here, Austin would have become Steve Lombardi 2.0

Basically it's saying they used Ron Reis originally but wanted Gigante. Gigante had problems getting into the country and they had to put someone in the suit, so Reis got it, but they planned on making the switch when Gigante could get into the country. None of that ever wound up happening of course. The Yeti, still Reis, became a Ninja and then disappeared. So I guess the part about Reis getting a new gimmick is partly fact.

I don't recall Reis becoming a ninja, but I do remember him as a member of Raven's Flock

I don't recall Reis becoming a ninja, but I do remember him as a member of Raven's Flock the first World War 3 PPV, they announce him as The Yeti but he comes out in a Ninja outfit. then I think he even got a different name. I'm pretty sure he was mentioned on the site as a Jobber of the Week.

The re-debut of the Yeti at WWIII is on YouTube. Just do a search for WCW and World War 3 and 1995.

Piper basically picks up Randy Savage's spot; Savage is noticeably history with the promotion, with his name not being mentioned much at all, even the week after his PPV main event match. There is a lot of talk that Savage will end up in the WWF. Talk persisted that he and Hogan were going to jump to the WWF and take over the upper echelon of the promotion, but Hogan has signed a three year deal with WCW, so that's unlikely.

Vince thought Savage was too old for main events in the early 90s, don't think he would have done much with him if he had returned

Savage was never really a full-time wrestler after Wrestlemania VI. He only appeared in skits and later served as a commentator. Only a handful of matches can be referenced in this time period, although they are mostly great. And I recall an interview (probably on the E! network) where Savage claims that he left due to jealousy of the younger guys, because they are in the ring having all of the fun, while he is stuck behind a desk. Notice that he went back to being a full-time performer as soon as he entered WCW.

Savage wouldnt have gone back if they wouldn't have let him wrestled obviously. I thought he was great in WCW, at least until he started tying his hair back. I mean he wrestled without ever messing it up

Okay, so I have a bit of a dilemma for next week. Would you rather have one from 1990 or 1998? I can't decide which I like better.

With the state WWF was in in late 96-97, I could see Savage becoming a semi-major player once again, maybe a feud with Austin. Oh yeah and I vote 1990!
