I would imagine it had a lot to do with Flair wanting out of the WWF and Hogan coming in. I guess it could've been Bret vs Perfect at Mania but they didn't do a lot of face/face main events other than WM6.
There will be no update this week because there simply isn't any newz for this week. Herb always seemed to take the last week or two of the year off. There will probably be one the following week though.

Taker/Hakushi would have rocked hard. This match actually did happen, but it was in M-Pro, not the WWF. And yes, it does indeed rock hard. Very hard. They really went all out with it... Shinzaki was even carried to the ring in a casket if I remember correctly.

That's too bad about there being no updates for the last couple of weeks, because Jim Cornette's SMW and World Class would usually have some kick-ass shows around Christmas. World Class, I'm pretty sure had the Freebird heel turn and Fritz's heart attack angle at the end of the given year.

Wrestlemania VI will be at the SkyDome in Toronto, Ontario, on April 1. Toronto beat out the Coliseum in Los Angeles to host the spectacle. Holding the event in the world's best domed stadium was just to attractive a prospect for Vince and WWF President Jack Tunney (the regular WWF Toronto promoter) to pass up. Just for the record, tickets will range from $35, for the bleacher seats, to $150 for ringside seats.
The Big Question: What will be the main event at Wrestlemania VI?
Speculation two months ago had the following four possibilities: 1. Hulk Hogan vs. Brutus Beefcake, after a Beefcake heel turn. 2. Hulk Hogan vs. Ultimate Warrior, after a Warrior heel turn. 3. Hulk Hogan & Elizabeth vs. Randy Savage & Sherri Martel. 4. Hulk Hogan vs. Zeus. Now, it would seem that numbers 1 and 4 are no longer possible. Zeus just isn't capable of doing a competent job in a singles match and the Barber heel turn against Hogan did not occur at the No Holds Barred cage match. Number 3 is just a little too exotic to believe. This leaves Hogan vs. Warrior for the main event.
But, a new possibility has entered the list. Word has leaked that Curt Hennig will face Hulk Hogan in a singles match at the annual live-on-NBC Main Event on February 23. Common rumour has Mr. Perfect dethroning Hogan, with Hogan having a return match at WM VI and recapturing the strap. I can see another possibility: two referees, Hennig with a PerfectPlex on Hogan, each referee counts one man down, the title is declared vacant until WM VI.
Another strong rumour has the Colossal Connection of Andre and Haku defending their belts against the Rockers at WM VI.
---------------------------------------------------
To make up for no update, here's an extra long one to start off the New Year.

They really made the right choice going with Warrior/Hogan. I don't think Hogan/Perfect would have been as memorable. Perfect was a perfect bumping heel, he made others look great. Whereas Hogan's whole schtick was getting behind and then fighting his way back...not sure those two would have done WrestleMania 6 well.

Apparently, Magic Johnson has approached both the WWF and WCW about doing wrestling shows as part of an AIDS benefit. The rumours have him proposing some inter-federational matches as the draw.

So now you have a lot of stuff to think about. It's early 92, WWF vs WCW matches for an AIDS benefit. What matches would you want to see?

Talk continues that Sabu will work the Rumble. Dave Meltzer reports that Sabu came up with a way to book his own elimination from the Rumble: he moonsaults someone on table, in the process going out over the top rope to the floor and eliminating himself.

Discuss.

Too extreme for TNG (The New Generation). Would have been perfect in 1997 though, just make sure there's no Flash Funk.

Why didn't that happen last year? It woulda been awesome against one of the New Breeders.

From worst to almost-as-bad: Another angle that the WWF is running involves a masked-and-differently-costumed Brutus Beefcake making his return to the ring, beating up every heel in the WWF. It looks like the eventual plan is that the identity of this masked marauder will be revealed as Beefcake, with the mask being a requirement of WWF prez Jack Tunney. You guessed it! You see, Beefer had a steel plate put into his head during the operation and so his potentially lethal head butt must be dampened by a rubber mask. Gag.

This basically sums up what the Mr. Run-In/Mariner/Furface gimmick was rumored to be.
Next week is an all-time personal favorite of mine from 1992. You're not gonna want to miss this one.

As everybody has reported, WCW apparently reached a deal with Bret Hart for Bret to appear on the Clash of Champions live broadcast on January 21st with his WWF Intercontinental belt. This was of course meant to be a retaliatory blow against the WWF for using the NWA belt when Flair jumped. Bret thought that his contract was up, but, in fact, he can't give notice for another few months and had to back out of the deal when he realized this. Bret knew that he would be dropping the belt to the Mountie in Springfield so that the title could be passed to Roddy Piper. Bret has been promised the IC Title back at WrestleMania, but that seems kind of unlikely, unless he turns heel. In the mean time, WCW insists that Bret is going to come in later this year, and if he does in fact give notice to the WWF, I'm sure we'll know since his push will match that of the Berzerker.

Sorta makes the whole Montreal Screwjob only 5 years later make a LOT more sense now doesn't it?
