Wanted to mention that I finally got off my lazy ass and got all three seasons of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
I am a much better person for it. Next up, the comics!
Also, there is still a new episode on Saturday, right? They just skipped this week and went for the season finale jugular in terms of previews, it seems like.

Yeah, Episode 10 is this Saturday, but they made the promos for the finale more obvious.

Well we another week closer to the season finale. This week's episode should be the setup episode to the climatic season's end.

It was pretty nice to see some fighting scenes that were actually longer than the last few minutes of the episode.

Guy who looks to be some kind of badass playboy time and then out of his mouth comes the scratchy emo voice. That's distracting.

GENERAL IROH, @#$% YEAH.
Lin making that sacrifice makes me believe that Amon's technique CAN be reversed somehow, but it'll probably take Korra getting some Avatar State power to do it.
Tenzin's kids beating the crap out of the chi blockers was fun, without going too over the top...yep, I'll even accept the fartbending Meelo did.
Regarding the Mako/Asami drama...I want every character to end this season single. Please.

I love Tenzin's kids so much. And Linsanity has been officially halted by Amon'e Stoudemire. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

Watching this, I figured Lin's approval ratings were going to skyrocket, while Asami's were likely to plummet. But I do have a feeling she might get her head together again next week.
Also, a thought: I know Amon obviously can't kill people in this Y7 show even when it'd be the more practical villain choice, but as I explained to a friend, it also makes sense within the show's canon. If he were too bloodthirsty, there'd be no way he could have acquired all those followers, hence why he sticks to tazering people and stealing powers.
He's scary, but you can still see some people in Republic City who might be wary of benders in power (especially the likes of Tarrlok) thinking he's doing society a service.

Yeah, Amon wants the non-benders of Republic City to see him as a hero and liberator of their bender oppressors. "Equalizing" the benders accomplishes a lot more to this image than outright killing them.
Everything Amon does is calculated and deliberate. His motives for not equalizing or outright killing Korra when she was at his mercy were done according to his long term plans, not arrogance or villain ego.

The relationship drama was the low point in an otherwise AMAZING episode. I seriously thought we were done with this crap. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) Anyways, moving away from that, great fight scenes. Tenzin's kids kick ass. Also, General Iroh? f*** yes. Of course Zuko would name him Iroh.

Poor Korra. While almost everybody else has important stuff going on around them, she's stuck in a bad rerun of 90210.

Dam it Lin, why. That is it Amon you suck, you have to die now. Korra better find a way to reverse this.
As for General Iroh, that is probably Zuko's grandson, I am excited, maybe we will find out more about the royal family. Did they Ursa, what happend to Azula, is Bumi your father. And this kid could be an awesome general, Iroh was a great general even though he couldn't get Ba Sing Se, Azula had a great miliatry mind, and who knows how brillant Sozin and Azulon were in the success of the FN conquests, so we could have a miliatry genious on our side, look out Equalist.

I find the love triangle a needless distraction to everything else going on, and would much rather watch Korra, Tenzin, Lin, etc. kicking ass, or Amon's next action, than Mako and Asami arguing over some kiss. Korra doesn't have the same amount of time to fit all the romance in that Last Airbender did and still make it not feel as if it were getting shoved down the viewers' throat. And frankly, I'm not even attached to Korra, Asami, and Mako like I was with Aang and Katara, so I don't really feel anything when Asami watches Mako go insane over Korra other than annoyance that this is cutting into time that could go to something more important.
It's not that the romance is a bad thing, but I feel as if it's getting prioritized alongside or above more important things like... Amon, airbending, Avatar State, the past, etc. It hasn't added anything to the characters or the overall storyline, it feels like it's just there to make shippers happy.

Mako is in the way of my Korra / Asami friendship. I really want them to be BFFs, just like Katara and Toph.

I think they need to focus more on Korra's airbending progress, as that seems to have totally gotten lost in the shuffle. At least maybe show her trying to practice occasionally, even if she keeps getting continually and comically frustrated over a lack of results.

You could argue it's actually detracted from the characters involved. The conflict in Republic City has engulfed the entire cast except Korra's friends. Mako and Bolin could not feel more disconnected from the fight with the Equalists. Meanwhile, Asami had to make one of the hardest, most emotionally wrenching decisions a son/daughter can make, and yet she's shown more anger and grief over her boyfriend's kissy faces than the truth about her father. I love this show, but God, do I wish they'd give this ghastly teen drama a rest. I wanted Mako and Bolin to have as much of a stake fighting alongside Korra as Katara and Sokka did fighting alongside Aang. Now Tenzin's preteen children feel more relevant to the fight than they do.

Now Tenzin's preteen children feel more relevant to the fight than they do. It's been made pretty clear throughout the show that Asami isn't the slighest bit happy with her dad being an Equalist. In this instance, I can understand Mako's feelings for Korra bothering her, because with all of the chaos going on around them, she's using Mako as her primary source of emotional support. With Korra- someone she also regards as a friend- interfering with that, she probably feels even more lost. Like I said, she'll probably put all that aside come the finale, but I think I get what the writers are shooting for. Besides, given her upbringing, I don't think she's used to being denied things.
