The relationship drama was the low point in an otherwise AMAZING episode. I seriously thought we were done with this crap. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) Anyways, moving away from that, great fight scenes. Tenzin's kids kick ass. Also, General Iroh? f*** yes. Of course Zuko would name him Iroh. In what way was the romance a low point? As others have pointed out, it is taking away from other important things, and frankly, I do NOT want to see characters going around going, "WAH! You kissed someone you met and had romantic feelings before me in the heat of the moment! WAH! It isn't like there is a goddamned war happening all around us or anything!" Basically at this point in the story, any LOGICAL person would be putting crap like romance issues on the back burner. If they wanted to really do this stuff, it should've been before the events in the story advanced to the point it has. The season is almost done and they are still focusing on relationship issues. Imagine if we didn't have a second season to this show, at this point they would be nearing the end of the series and still be focusing on this crap. Romance is good, not saying it isn't good at all, just it is only really good early in the season. Once they cross the mid-season threshold, they should diminish the importance of romance.

To be fair,Makos IS trying to put it in the backburner because there is a freaking war going on.

Indeed ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) it doesnt bother me that much since it doesnt even take too much space. But at least to point out the only character making a fuss is Asami. And Bolin didn't even get much airtime ![:'(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cry.png) poor Bolin

That means if he did, there weren't many. Which sucks, because to be honest Bolin is my favorite(human) member of the new Team Avatar(Pabu is my overall favorite), and he's getting shafted. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

"Mustache Man!"
While I'm not the biggest fan of 'shipping, period, I do think the problem is being a bit overstated. It takes up a minimum of episode time which, at worst, is something I roll my eyes at and get on with. The 'shipping moments in Book 3 of the previous Avatar series in hindsight are a lot worse than what we're dealing with now.
The lack of Korra's airbending training, however, is something I can't ignore, especially given the brevity of the season. At least with "A:TLA" Aang had 3 full TV seasons (20+ episodes apiece) to master water, earth, and fire before he could be a fully fledged Avatar. If Korra gets into the Avatar state, I can't see it being any different from Aang's triggered state under emotional duress or reflex. I can't see Korra mastering her spiritual side come this Saturday's finale.
That being said, I'm already beginning to wonder what is in store for Season 2. Amon has been such a great antagonist that if his story is wrapped up by season's end, any antagonist after him is going to feel like a letdown.
Unless they Dragonball Z it. Season 1 baddie: "I'm the strongest there is!" Season 2 baddie: "No, I'm the strongest there is!" Season 3: Et cetera.

The thing with the shipping is that it's the only way we're really getting to know Mako, and it's not being done particularly well. As said before, it's a short season, there really isn't time for all of this. Korra's most developed relationship in the show is her student/teacher relationship with Tenzin, not her romantic feelings for Mako.
I don't mind there being romantic aspects to the show, but it's really not accomplishing anything the way it's been done. It's not enough to ruin the show: the plot, art, music, acting, etc. they're all too damn good for that to drag it down.
I also don't mind that Mako/Bolin/Asami haven't had oodles of character development; again, given that this was originally planned to be a 12 episode series, it's fine if the titular Avatar is getting the focus.
It's just that the way things are set up now, the shipping just doesn't click.
The main way it would, in my opinion? Mako and Asami make up. I'm not a shipper for any particular 'ship, but at this point a scene where they make up would do the best for both of their characters.

Oh, the Avatar Spirit board already wants Asami to hook up with "Iroh 2.0", since they all think Mako is two-timing and oblivious.
Can't say I understand that, since he got kissed by Korra super early in his relationship, but whatever, people are weird.
I need to find the picture of that scene where somebody Photoshopped it to swap Bolin and Pabu's faces.

From what I remember Bolin did have like one line or something. It was when they were getting the car and he said something along the lines of "How are we going to pay for these parking tickets"... Quite sad seeing how he is my favorite!

Quite sad seeing how he is my favorite! You know, now that you said that, I actually remember that scene, if only for Mako burning the parking tickets to Bolin's horror. Also it sucks that I'm going to miss the finale live/on Saturday. I won't get to watch it for damn near a full week as me and my family are flying out to Oregon for our summer vacation early Saturday morning.

Quite sad seeing how he is my favorite! He did have my favorite line in the episode. </Asami goes to back out> Bolin: CAR! </Asami peels out like mad, ignoring the other car> Bolin: Ok, you're good.

The theories going around about Amon blocking chakras are often pretty compelling. He's clearly going after the light chakra, as Aang used to when he would energybend somebody, but where Aang would also apply pressure over the heart, Amon grabs the back of the neck (two different chakras, though I forget their titles).
I think the big mystery is what exactly drives it to work. Is it as that comic implies, that it's an illusion? Or could Amon have at least been telling a partial truth about communicating with spirits, and being granted some kind of power?
Can they just air the episodes now?

It would have been pretty funny if Amon's airship was the one Bei Fong destroyed.
"Oops, there goes the plot."
As for the romance? I don't mind it in the slightest, really, since it's hardly like the first series was without it, it only dragged it out longer. What they did in seasons, Korra is doing in episodes, and I don't mind that. Also, am I supposed to hate Mako like the shippers? Because really, I just don't.

Honestly the romance triangle(I would've said square, but it seems like Bolin might have moved on) is making me hate Asami more than anyone else involved, because she's putting it on equal, if not higher, footing than a damned war she is greatly involved in. Priorities mate, you need to learn them.

They probably will end up together, yeah, but shippers are just so rabid, it's not worth the headache usually.
By the way, anyone know if there are fan-made Avatar/Korra games? Was thinking how it'd be perfect for a strategy RPG. I know there is a module for D&D 4th edition out there for it fans have made.
