On a 1-10 scale, this is a 7 for the Clippers.
If they traded Eric Bledsoe instead of Eric Gordon, it would have been a 10.

The Western conference is gonna be really interesting to see this year. The Spurs did nothing of note in the off season, the Lakers gave up Odom and didn't get Paul OR Howard, unless they can still somehow land him, OKC stayed pretty much the same, Dallas lost a lot of free agents and made some changes, Memphis, after an awesome run last playoffs lost Battier and made some changes, New Orleans just changed their whole landscape, and the Clippers suddenly have two legitimate superstars.
This is gonna be interesting.

I'm not ready to live in a world in which the Los Angeles Clippers are a legitimate contender.

chadfordinsider Sad the CP3 drama is over? Don't worry, the "Eric Gordon won't sign an contract extension in NO" drama is coming up next.

I'm not ready to live in a world in which the Los Angeles Clippers are a legitimate contender. The Clippers will still probably find a way to only win 15 games and generally be terrible.

The Lakers could still steal Howard, but right now I'm not seeing anyone to stop Oklahoma City. Mavs are good, but not as good as last year. The Lakers are going to be down if they don't do something drastic. I don't think the Spurs would have beaten them last year. I really doubt they would a year later. We have yet to see this Clipper team play. Memphis might be their toughest test, right now in December.

I can't wait for the season to start. Gonna be fun as hell to watch.

BTW, ESPN reported that this Chris Paul trade is "Pending League Approval", so it's not official as of right now. I really hope it is, since it'll give the Clippers a team to compete with the Lakers.

Alan Hahn of Newsday reported Wednesday that there is mutual interest between the Knicks and recently waived Baron Davis.
The Nets are engaged in "serious talks" with free agent SF Andrei Kirilenko.

The Magic have informed teams that Dwight Howard is no longer on the trade market.
This is the second instance of this report being run tonight, but this time with news that it was ownership that killed the deal with Portland. This jives with what Nets reporter Stefan Bondy said earlier, which was the GM Otis Smith had been cut off from the chain of command, at least as it pertained to a potential Howard trade. This also wreaks of Stern and his bandit owners trying to show star players who is boss.

It would appear that Kendrick Perkins hit an old gypsy woman with his car during the off-season.

@kbergcbs For those conditioned to expect calamity, Chris Paul to the Clippers is official. Both teams have distributed news releases.

Sorry it's late, but here're my answers:
1. The Knicks were treading water nicely before the Carmelo trade, with Galinari and Felton showing flashes of brilliance. Was it the right move?
I was really against this trade at first, thinking they gave up way too much. But in the end, the Knicks finished with a playoff spot and a winning record, which were 2 goals the Knicks were aiming for the moment they signed Amar'e. The trade could've been much better in my eyes if they didn't give up all those drafts picks and decide to actually keep Brewer instead of releasing him days later, but right now I consider the trade to have been the right call. Hopefully it'll ultimately lead to that long-awaited championship.
2. Had the Knicks gotten a few bounces of the ball their way last spring and get a split or sweep of the two playoff games in Boston, would they have had the momentum to make postseason footprints?
Not a chance. Even if they somehow beat the Celtics, they'd have had to face a dominant Heat team while facing numerous injuries. It just wasn't their postseason.
3. How much has D'Antoni contributed to the Knicks post-Isiah revival? Conversely, how much has Stoudemire?
The most I can say D'Antoni has done for the Knicks was help end the joke that was the Isiah Thomas-era. Other than that, I don't think he's done any better than any of the previous coaches over the past decade. Amar'e on the other hand turned the Knicks into a team to look at. While the Knicks had players in the past few years that big here, like Nate Robinson and David Lee, they didn't have the star power to make the team relevant again as much as Stat. There was a reason the Knick fanbase started chanting "MVP" at him last season. Hopefully we'll see this performance for the next few years to come.
4. With the Celtics looking a bit wobbly amidst age and a lack of depth, can you see the Knicks winning their division?
No doubt, though I wouldn't be surprised if the Celtics still win it. Even if they don't have depth, they have more experience playing with each other longer than the current Knick stars have, which is their big advantage. Raptors and Nets don't look to be a factor and the Sixers haven't really done anything newsworthy when it comes to improving their team. Best case scenario is the Knicks win the division. Worst case is them finishing second, being behind by a few games.
5. Your expectations for the 2012 Knicks?
I don't know if they'll win the division, but I see them making at least the 2nd round of the playoffs. They'll need one more offseason to finally make that championship worthy team.
