I just watched this movie for the first time in years last night. I thought it was great, holds up pretty well and I think I'd even put it slightly above Batman '89. But I have some questions... Ok, Selina Kyle becomming Catwoman. So she gets knocked out of a building and falls to her death, then the neighbourhood (or I guess her own?) cats just start...biting into her? This apparantly gives her cat-like powers? I found this even less plausible than Jack Napier turning into Joker in the first movie. Is this how it happens in the comics? (never read many Batman comics) Another thing that confuses me in Catwoman losing all but one of her lives. Most of the "deaths" I get, except for the one when she's fighting Batman on a rooftop. She lands into a truck carrying kitty litter and even remarks that the landing saved her, yet later it's counted as a death. So what exactly killed her? On that note, I didn't get how Penguin killed her either, but that one was more beliveable than the Batman death. And yes, I know these are questions that have probably been answered on sites like IMDB before, but I'd rather discuss it here.

The cat resurrection, and really the whole 'lives' thing, were just Burton weirdness.
Nothing really to do with the actual character previously, or since.

I always thought that when she fell and the cats started biting her it was just like symbolism. She didn't die or get powers/abilities. She luckily survived the fall and went kind of nuts.

But she was infused with some kind of power, unless she always had nine lives and was a martial arts specialist and didn't know it...

In the comics, IIRC, she was a catburglar who was inspired by Batman to take up an outlandish costume and motif. How that became dying and getting bitten by cats to gain superpowers makes sense only in the mind of the person who thought Johnny Depp as a break dancing Mad Hatter made sense.

Here are a couple more:
How exactly did the Penguin's henchmen get incredibly detailed blueprints and schematics for the Batmobile?
Where exactly did Catwoman get the tazer that she fried Walken with? (Yes I know she got it from a clown at the beginning of the film. Did she carry it the entire time? She seems to have it at the end of the movie out of absolutely nowhere, and it doesn't look like her costume has pockets!) Seriously, she conjures the damn thing out of nowhere!!

I can answer the Penguin killing thing. I believe he strapped her by the neck to his helicopter umbrella and sent her off. She managed to escape but fell into a green house...which then shattered and fell on her. I think that's a "death." And yes, to be fair, I don't understand how she survived that without at least having a billion scars.

I've said before that Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman was very welcome when I was 12

That's how I always took it. She clearly doesn't have powers. If so she would land on her feet when she falls

I'd like to know why Bruce Wayne was dressed like Batman?

I always saw the nine lives thing as just being symbolic of the number of times she has cheated death, not actually died.

This is how I always took it. The fall sent her off her rocker, she tunes out all the pain from various things that should have killed her (realism and stunts don't go together in movies anyway) and attributes all this to superhero cat-like powers. Plus she's already athletic (she talks about beating an ex-boyfriend at racquetball) and her fighting skills can be chalked up as letting out years of suppressed frustration.
