On that TD pass to Sproles to break Marino's record, Brees tied an NFL record with his sixth straight 300 yard passing game, joining Steve Young(1998), Kurt Warner(2000), and Rich Gannon(2002).
Sproles became the 1st player in NFL history to have 1,200 yards from scrimmage and 1,200 return yards.

I like Drew Brees a lot, and I have a lot of respect for the guy, he deserves all the kudos he'll get for breaking a record almost as old as I am. I wonder, though, if the magnitude of it will be lost a little bit, since Brady will probably pass Marino's mark next week too. Does it mean less if it stands for 27 years, and then two guys break it in the same season? I don't think so, but I bet some people will. And as a postscript, for as much as I like Drew, he's not winning the MVP this year. Maybe if he had played it clean tonight with no picks, but even then it was a long odds situation. And yeah, I'm a homer, but come on. For serious. That ship has sailed. I agree there. As far as the MVP award goes, I still think its Rodgers' to lose. Though it's not as clear cut as it was when the Pack was still undefeated. He's still pretty far ahead of the other 3 elite-type QB's (Brees, Brady, Eli) in TD's, interceptions, and overall QB rating.

He's still pretty far ahead of the other 3 elite-type QB's (Brees, Brady, Eli) in TD's, interceptions, and overall QB rating. As it stands, I'd rank it like this: 1. A. Rogers 2. D. Brees 3. T. Brady 4. L. McCoy 5. E. Manning McCoy had a monster of a year, especially considering how bad Philly has been at times. While he can't contend with the Top 3 guys, I do feel like he can slid past Eli. Eli has had a great year, but his accomplishments just don't seem as important when you put him up against the other elite QBs. Also, Turner was able to get me 6 points, which should get the win by only 2 points. That said, I'm nervous as all hell until the official scoring is completed.

even if Aaron Rodgers doesn't play a single second against the Lions next week, and I can't imagine why he would, he'll win it going away. And he should. If it wasn't already a foregone conclusion, that Bears game Christmas night sealed the deal.

I'd rank the QB's in the same order. Maybe Eli ahead of Brady (pretty much for the "valuable" part; Brady's the better player but Eli I think has carried the Giants on his back more than Brady has the Patriots), but Rodgers and Brees would easily be locked in for 1 and 2.
Hadn't really thought of McCoy since I don't usually think of RB's as MVP candidates, but he has had a freakishly good season.

in a QB discussion, I feel bad even saying it - seeing as how I'm on the record as an Eli fan - but if you're going to compile a list, there's a pretty strong argument to put Romo ahead of Eli at this point. Obviously there will be some kind of closure to the argument come Sunday. But Tony Romo has been really, really good this year, for the most part. He has this weird bad rap that he probably won't ever shake unless he wins a Super Bowl, but he's actually pretty good. It just seems like when he's bad it's always at the worst times.

Ok, so I decided to check the damage done to me in the FOX Sports league, and for laughs I decided to see what my bench scored.
My bench players scored more points than my starting players. My starting players put up 51 points, my bench players, 71. Hell, if I played Jared Cook, Darren Sproles, Kyle Orton, and Neil Rackers instead of Tony Gonzalez, Lance Ball, Dan Bailey, and Tony Romo, I actually would've won the game!
f*** my life.........

According to Edwards, he was released "due to my injury that required more time to rehab and hasn’t allowed me to re-sync with the offense."
Jets need a deep threat like him again. I don't know if they'll sign him though now with the knee injuries.

Especially if we're talking career body of work. Hell, your last line pretty much sums up why Eli is better. Eli may go in the tank at times, but he has won plenty of games when it has mattered. Romo? Not so much. Guy pees all over himself when the game is on the line.

Another thing is that Eli can find some way to overcome mediocrity on the rest of the team and be clutch as hell. Romo has yet to find that.
I do think Romo gets unfairly pissed on at times, probably because he's on the Cowboys so they're expected to go 16-0 and win the Super Bowl every year. And some of those last minute Cowboys losses over the years have not been his fault at all, if anything he deserves credit for keeping his team in the game. But I've seen him choke the game away more than be clutch.

The head injury Kyle Williams sustained in Week 16 has been diagnosed as a concussion.
The Rams intend to hire Jon Gruden as their next head coach, sources tell the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Chargers beat writer Kevin Acee says that if GM A.J. Smith is fired, he'll replace Billy Devaney in the same capacity with the Rams. And Smith would bring his long-time friend Gruden to St. Louis with him.

Now that I'm thinking about it further, Brees may have to play the whole game Sunday to keep Tom Brady from overtaking him(Brady is 190 yards behind Brees).

Romo is approaching what I call the "Favre Factor". He can singlehandedly win and lose any game against any opponent.
You just have to pray he strings 3-4 good games in a row at the right time. But most of the time, he'll break your heart before the Superbowl.

Patriots LG Logan Mankins has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL and will not need surgery, according to the Boston Herald.
Citing league sources, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that it is "all but certain" that Rams HC Steve Spagnuolo will take over as Eagles defensive coordinator in 2012.

Aikman and Buck will spend a game telling everyone how great Romo is, meanwhile he's 13 for 29 with a td and 4 picks

The Saints need 219 yards against Carolina break the 2000 Rams' record for most total yards in a season by a team.
