What would redeem Rainbow Dash in the eyes of her critics? I mean, yeah, she's a douchebag, but she's not a bad pony. I'm not quite sure, because I don't think she really needs redeeming (but obviously I don't expect a whole lot of agreement here), but it seems that her episodes this season focus way too much on the douchebag thing, and instead should be focusing on the not a bad pony part. Let's face it, there's a reason Sonic Rainboom is widely considered to be her strongest episode, and it's no coincidence she's at her most likeable there. As much as I enjoy her ham sandwiches from MDW and May the Best Pet Win, it seems shorter doses work best. If anything, the best execution of Rainbow Douche is in Luna Eclipsed, where she does her bit with lightning cloud a few times in the beginning to establish her douchiness, and the joke pays off later with Luna doing it to her, and she gets her comeuppance in a tangible way. I guess the way to redeem her in her critics may be twofold, no more episodes where her douchiness is center stage, and maybe perhaps a later episode in which her character is allowed to be sympathetic. Of course, this also shouldn't happen until Fluttershy gets an episode or two in.

What would redeem Rainbow Dash in the eyes of her critics? I mean, yeah, she's a douchebag, but she's not a bad pony. Learning her lesson for once would be nice. See, pre-Fall Weather Friends Dash was actually a really cool character and was one of my favorites. She was "cool" but she had some degree of humility. If she stops being a douchebag, that would do WONDERS for her character. Hell she can even still be cocky(because hell, I'll even admit pre-FWF Dash was still cocky). Just, basically, look at the Dash in FWF, Mare Do Well, and May the Best Pet Win, and never, ever, EVER let that Dash appear again. We need Rainbow Dash to be more like she was in Sonic Rainboom. However, Cutie Mark Chronicles did do something that can never be fixed, it made Dash the entire reason the show as we know it exists. That is never a good thing. Hell even if it Fluttershy that somehow was the whole reason the show as we knew it existed I would still hold that against Fluttershy. I just hate it when they make a singular character the reason for a show being the way it is, it basically says, "Yeah, if I didn't exist this show you like wouldn't be here." So CMC did permanent damage to Dash, but she can at least fix my biggest issue with her. Highly agreed on the Cutie Mark Chronicles part. That whole episode really put a bad taste in my mouth and killed any chance of 100% redemption with her. She can easily fix her other stuff, but that's a permanent stain on the record there...

Okay, after all the time I just had to fight with the WWE 12 servers just to look at reviews on my own thing, any chance Celestia can get the developers banished to the moon?

Don't worry, I'm sure WWE 12's servers will be fixed in time for WWE 13.
Of course, that will just mean WWE 13 will have the same issues.

Honestly, I'd be happy to wait a couple of years for the next WWE game if it meant that they'd spend that time making sure that there was no issues whatsoever.
Of course that will never happen, but that would be nice.

How to "Fix" Dash.
1. Make her vulnerable again. Part of why "Sonic Rainboom" worked was tshe was aware that the eponymous move was a rare event, and was actually unsure of her abilities. Her insecurities actually grounded her in some plauible reality.
2. Compare the Season 1 RD episodes (Griffon the Brush-Off, FWF, and Sonic Rainboom) to Season 2. In Season 1 She's depicted as conflicted, competitive (Though good-natured), and aware of but untested in her abilities. She KNOWS her skills (Clearing the clouds in 10 seconds flat, absurdly agile, has the ability to perform the Sonic Rainboom albeit inconsistantly). In Season 2 it's been the same issue of her beng "The Best" and having to re-learn the lesson of humility. She's already busted out a Sonic Rainboom at will (In the first "Normal" episode at that), and it seems any traces of the insecurity that gave her grounding ave been written out.
3. Something needs to be retconned/there needs to be some way to show that the Mane 6 would meet up WITHOUT the original Rainboom. Their lives wouldn't have intersected normally JUST because of that (Hell they didn't even know that it all happened to them until Dash actually told her story), the thing is as the Elements of Harmony they'd HAVE to be connected somehow outside of the single chance occurance.

I don't consider the Atomic Rainnuke and Sonic Rainboom to be the same ability, really. In fact, if you think about it, there is no way she could pull off the Atomic Rainnuke at the Best Flyer's Competition, and thus needed the actual Rainboom to ensure her victory
She needs solid ground to pull off the Rainnuke. Cloudsdale doesn't exactly have a whole lot of solid ground to work with.

All that Rainbow Dash needs is for her positive traits to be highlighted over her negative traits. I'm sure they tried to do that in the pet one, by showing Dash to be loyal to Tank (although it took Tank saving her life for that to happen) despite him not winning the Gorge race.

I'm actually rather neutral on Dashie, the only reason I'm hard on her at all is I see some of the decisions that have been made regarding the direction her character has gone thus far and feel that the writers have done her a massive disservice. She CAN be and has been written as more dynamic character and, given that she's being used as the show's mascot, should not be as prone to Flanderization.

Also scheduling 2 episodes where she learns (basically) the same lesson on back-to-back weeks kinda makes her look like she's either REALLY obnoxious or Incredibly dense.

I think I'll take a chance on these. 1. I'll leave this one alone, because I think this is the only one we actually need. 2. I contend that the Atomic Rainbomb in "Lesson Zero" was nothing more than a sight gag that hasn't come up again or has been commented on. I thought it was a cool visual and added to the scenario that Twlight had stumbled upon. Also, the lessons she learned in "Mare do well" and "May the best pet win" Are NOT the same lessons - MDW was to get her ego in check, "Pet" was showing her the real reason her friends have pets. 3.I know that the circumstance with the Sonic Rainboom in "Cutie Mark Chronicles" Might bother you but have you noticed that Dash does NOT hold that over anyone's heads? She doesn't brag about that and she's had plenty of opportunities to do so. Heck, the retcon might be an episode idea- "what if"?
