I'm actually rather neutral on Dashie, the only reason I'm hard on her at all is I see some of the decisions that have been made regarding the direction her character has gone thus far and feel that the writers have done her a massive disservice. She CAN be and has been written as more dynamic character and, given that she's being used as the show's mascot, should not be as prone to Flanderization. Is she really the show's mascot? When I was Christmas shopping, the girls' toys section in at least the Target I went to was filled to the brim with Pinkie Pie merch, who also gets showcased a lot in Hub promos. early on, Dash seemed to be the one with the Wolverine Publicity.. Pinkie's gaining on her though

You know, when I think about it, it was a REALLY ballsy move for the show runners to hand Merriwether Williams the job of writing the episode that covered the origin story for Equestria. And not really because of how bad of a job she did with Mare Do Well, but because she was a new writer to the show. I'm someone that thinks if someone is going to write any kind of origin tale, it has to be someone who has had an established history with the characters/location. Basically, one of the recurring writers from season 1 would have been my personal choice. Devil's Advocate here..... If it sucked however, you'd have the fall-back of it falling on "The New Guy".

It's fortunate that she did manage to pull it off, though, otherwise the fanbase would be wanting her head on a stick.

When I was Christmas shopping, the girls' toys section in at least the Target I went to was filled to the brim with Pinkie Pie merch, who also gets showcased a lot in Hub promos. A Minor mis-statement.....Pinkie is the face that Hub wants to promote in it's toyline merch and on TV, but Rainbow Dash has been co-opted in the Manestream adult "Brony" lines avaialble through mass market retailers (Hot Topic). Yeah, Pinkie is who The Hub(so, by extension I guess you can say Hasbro's entertainment division) wants as the mascot of the show, what with their massive push for her as being the representative for FiM in all things Hub related, but in terms of mainstream merchandise/most of the official merchandise(aka Hasbro's merchandise/toy division), Dash is the mascot. Or at least that's how I see it. Plus I just like thinking of Hasbro's entertainment and toy divisions being at war with one another so having both divisions have their own vision of who the mascot character is plays into my little fantasy.

I will say this, I've said it before, and it rings true, we really are the most civil people here. Instead of name calling, or getting heated over this, we're keeping a calm and smart discussion going on, especially over the most polarizing thing this fandom may have.
Kudos to all of you again.

Well, that of course, is THE biggest reason. There are a few others though (their "show accurate" toys, no molded hair figures, what you just said).
