I don't want to come off sounding like the FCW clones look is a good thing, but it's a hell of a lot more believable to watch an "athletic competition" between two guys with great bodies than two fat old guys.
What else is better about the show now than it was back then?

The PG product has made for less use of excessive blood and TnA (and I'm not talkin' about the promotion...), which puts more emphasis on better things.

I'm a staunch devotee of the "old days," but one thing that is way, way better is the consistent amount of fast-paced, compelling matches. Granted, the absence of jobber matches means we get the same old matches with the same old guys week after week after week, but when you go back and watch old episodes of Prime Time Wrestling, it's hard to believe we ever made it through those 15 minute, rest-hold filled, Steve Lombardi "classics." it's a hell of a lot more believable to watch an "athletic competition" between two guys with great bodies than two fat old guys. That's one thing I don't agree with, because in addition to the "old days" having a lot more variety in the wrestler' appearances, someone like Earthquake, Vader, Bam Bam Bigelow, or One Man Gang looked like they could just flat-out kick your ass. A lot of the FCW guys look like male models with tribal tattoos.

What else is better about the show now than it was back then? Its more believable for a Barry Darsow to just kick your ass and use rest holds than some filppity flip high flyer in a fight. And the "old Fat guys" looked like legit badasses, some of the young guys with "great bodies" look like total posers that will crumble in a legit fight. If I was making a team to say run a race, yea I would go with people like Air Boom. But in a fight, like wrestling "is", I would want Demolition, 4 Horsemen or LOD on my side long before the Miz or JoMo

When was the last letter-writing campaign they had? They were all utterly bad.
"Get Well Hulkster". Tugboat coming on screen telling us how "Hulkster's DOWN, man! He feels like giving it all up!" (Okay, I fell for it. I remember writing, because they sent back two "friendship bracelets" - one for Hulk and the other for Ultimate Warrior.) "Get Well Matilda". Even me at 12, one of the biggest British Bulldogs marks there was, thought this was silly. (We can write to a dang dog but not to an injured Dynamite Kid. Priorities are wrong.)
I'm shocked they didn't have a "Get Well Cena" campaign.

I mean, we've probably had about twenty ****+ matches b/w 2009-2011. compare that to SD Jones vs. Tony Atlas, One Man Gang vs. Mike Sharpe or Godfather vs. Goldust

That's two percent more than last week. And it's only possible because of the support of you, the amazing WWE fans! Please continue to send all of your emails to getwellrandy@wwe.com, because with your support he'll be back in no time. (He should've brought back the RNN after he busted his collarbone at Extreme Rules 2008.)

I agree - watching the majority matches/promos from 10-15 years ago (and beyond) is pretty much like watching everything in slow motion with cheesey promos and unathletic lookin' dudes.
I much prefer today's style to someone holding their fist in their, shaking it, looking around, shaking it again, then punching his opponent being the highlight of a match.

trunks are way better. Look at 1984
Here comes Magnificent Muraco in his dark blue trunks with a white lightning bolt for no apparent reason facing off with Tito Santana in his dark red trunks with a white sombrero that you barely notice because of how dark it is in the arena

This is one of the saddest things I've ever read. You don't even know what a person who is actually strong looks like, do you? You actually have gotten to the point where you think a guy like Ezekiel Jackson is healthier and has a better body than a guy like Haku or Bob Backlund. Unbelievable.

The video packages they produce are the best they have ever been.

Production values have steadily gotten better in pro wrestling. Okay, in WWE at least. Even if the wrestling sucks, the product is generally pleasing to the eye. Compare Raw today to the earlier Wrestlemanias for a sharp contrast.
I think that the execution of wrestling moves and spots are sharper and more exciting than in the past. Ring psychology on the other hand...

I think production values are 10X better than they used to be. Some of it is advanced technology sure, but I think having actual professionals running sound, lighting, pyro and overall production makes the product look crisp.

A better example may be that even though the latter is way more "cut," someone like Vader looks a lot stronger than someone like Randy Orton.

Actually knowing when wrestling is on (as opposed to stations shifting it around on the schedule constantly) and not having to tape it since it comes on at 1AM (I had to do that up until 2002 for Jakked).
