Wouldn't surprise me if this is true in this very image-conscious, corporate-minded era. We are far removed from the days when Shawn Michaels put the Canadian flag up his nose.

I'm overjoyed that this would mean the end of the Orton feud!

First you need to learn when going to any foreign country is the things that are considered illegal. For example: it's illegal to disrespect and insult the Royal Thai Family. It's illegal to spit on the ground in Singapore.
But the timing is very suspect.

I think what has been lost in this thread is the cheap lameness of CM Punk waving a Brazilian flag to the fans in the first place. Really what a difference a year makes to a character

Hell, Michaels also dry humped and wiped his crotch with the Canadian flag from what I remember about Survivor Series 1997. The world is super PC nowadays, but I can't comment on other countries too much. Wrestlers should check the customs and beliefs of other countries before doing anything for heel heat. That is just common sense, IMO.

I love Jericho. So much heat he could have gotten arrested. If I was given the option to apologize or go to jail as a heel, I may take jail, in all seriousness. I'm not sure how long one goes to jail for that though.

If anything this will make a great chapter in Jericho's next book.

Well, stuff like this is the risk you run when you spend half the year touring overseas.

I'm thinking it's all a work. Jericho was leaving soon anyway, and seven years has been more than up...

At least with Michaels it was his degenerate gimmick to disrespect anyone and anything in the manners he did with the Canadian flag. And with that it would at least give a little more fuel to the fued with Bret. Michaels could be a heel on his own with no need for anything else but with what he did to the flag it was part of the gimmick. With Jericho there is no need for it. He should be better than that, a good enough heel on his own and disrespecting other countries flag isn't in his gimmick.

I think what has been lost in this thread is the cheap lameness of CM Punk waving a Brazilian flag to the fans in the first place. Really what a difference a year makes to a character Punk pandering and being a wrestling traditionalist is as much a part of his character as being a rebel, be that adopting legends moves, loving commentary or doing some cheesy flag waving. On other hand he says things like “WWE universe”. We’d have to see in context to know how cheap it was.

For those saying its a work just to write him out for Fozzy stuff, he was scheduled to be on the road until July according to PWInsider.
This is just a CYA thing for WWE. He'll miss two or three weeks and be back to face Orton at NWO whenever that is.

I just hope Jericho isn't seriously getting punished for it.
