What a bunch of bullshit! The only reason Jericho got suspended is because a certain somebody is running for senate again. What the hell is the point of being a heel if can't act like a heel? Makes no god damn sense at all.

This is exactly what's wrong with wrestling/entertainment these days. Roddy Piper would have NEVER gotten on the mic and apologized for that

So Christian steals slaves from Malaysia and gets a stern talking to, but Jericho kicks a flag and gets suspended? for shame.
Seriously though, I'm sorry but this story is hilarious.

I can't really see it affecting Linda either way.

I don't blame Jericho for trying to get heat. He does things like this all the time. He obviously wasn't aware that the desecration of the flag was a major crime in Brazil. Had he known, he wouldn't have done it. At least he didn't get arrested, plus he apologized. The WWE really has no choice though, so I'm not overly upset over this. It was just a stupid mistake.

QUICK THOUGHTS ON CHRIS JERICHO'S ACTIONS AND SUSPENSION by Dave Scherer @ 10:50 AM on 5/25/2012 I am getting a lot of "what is WWE doing suspending Chris Jericho" emails and rather than answer them all individually, I will give you my take on it. *First and foremost, what he did was a serious crime in Brazil. If he were Dave Scherer down there on vacation, he (I) would have been arrested for what he did. He was allowed to apologize and leave because he was a performer. What could be seen as getting heel heat in the US is a serious violation of the law in Brazil. They don't allow that law to be broken for the sake of an entertainment event. As the old saying goes, ignorance of the law is no excuse when you break it. Jericho was ignorant and got off lightly, all things considered. *Once the situation got out and hit the media WWE, as a publicly traded company, was put in a position where they had to take action. Again while some don't see what the big deal is here look at it like this. Jericho broke a major law in Brazil. If a WWE wrestler were charged with a serious felony in the US, or was even accused of one with a lot of proof behind it, they would have no choice but to suspend that person. The same holds true here. *Lastly, based on precedent alone one could argue that WWE should have fired Jericho. If you think that is ridiculous consider this. Dave Finlay was fired for allowing a heel to interrupt the national anthem at a WWE show. That isn't even illegal, but members of the National Guard were there (and interestingly enough the Guard is a WWE sponsor) so Finlay was fired. He broke no law. Jericho did. All things being equal, WWE should have fired Jerich, and for the record I am glad they didn't and I don't think they should have fired Finlay either. But as Finlay's firing shows, they will do what they feel they need to do as a traded company and sometimes that means that guys will be thrown under the bus and run over. So in closing for those of you think that Jericho is getting a raw deal, there is the other side of the coin. I guess when I made my comments about jail, I was thinking it would be for like, a day or something and I could make bail. Anyway, just because it's a law doesn't make it right. It's a bullshit law, where people in Brazil are making a sacred cow out of a picture on a piece of cloth. Also, didn't R-Truth smoke indoors in England, isn't that illegal? This is just bullshit from a backwards country. He kicked the flag. I do feel lucky living in Canada though, where a guy can dance around with the flag in his nose and it's remembered as, wow, what a heel.

Two questions.
1. Why on earth are you people mad at "Brazil," which first of all isn't an entity with consciousness and second didn't even enforce the law Jericho broke?
2. I understand some kind of punishment, but why didn't they just fine him or suspend him temporarily? People just don't want someone to completely get away with something... if there's SOME punishment, no one's going to be mad.

It seems that old school tactics like this simply won't fly in a PC (though I loathe to use that term) 2012 world anymore. Guess it's time to get creative with how you get your cheap heat now.

People just don't want someone to completely get away with something... if there's SOME punishment, no one's going to be mad. I wonder if the limited suspension would go pass his deal so they just said suspended indefinitely. This way WWE makes it look like they are strict on rules. The more I think about this the more it sounds like the D-bry thing last year.

Also, didn't R-Truth smoke indoors in England, isn't that illegal? This is just bulls*** from a backwards country. Yes, hence the "that's illegal" chants. I doubt there were coppers around or that they were that bothered. There are differences in enforcement in things like that - if someone makes a complaint then they might act, but otherwise they're not going to send the massed forces of Scotland Yard after you. Also, enough of the idiot xenophobic comments. I bet there are plenty of laws in your country that others think of as backwards! While it's not the sort of thing that offends me, you obey the laws of the country you visit. When in Rome and all that. Or you deal with getting arrested. William Regal tweeted me this story a while back: "In the old coliseum in Jackson Fl in 94 there was an American flag hanging on the wall and after a match with Larry Z I went to pull it down and a cop stuck a gun to my head and said"I suggest you don't do that sir".I went completely out of character and said"I'm dreadfully sorry" and just walked back to the dressing room like a muppet" So, legal or not, plenty of people your supposed civilised countries get uppity at things like that.

Work-
What law enforcement agency anywhere manages to cross the Portugese-English language barrier offer repercussions of "you won't be arrested if you apologize to an arena full of wrestling fans" and then authorize the match to be restarted?
They tease a Jericho-Orton feud
"Ban" the punt which took Jericho out last time.
A story about how he isn't leaving comes out.
He is "suspended indefinitely" from an incident in Brazil.
To quote the Blue Meanie "yo dude, it's a work".

Anyway, just because it's a law doesn't make it right. It's a bulls*** law, where people in Brazil are making a sacred cow out of a picture on a piece of cloth. There's a reason people desecrating flags in protest is seen as a huge insult. The flag is a symbol of a country, disrespecting it is disrespecting the whole country. If anything is a bullshit law, it's that destroying a flag is considered freedom of speech. BRICS I'd rather live in a country where people have pride in it.

Considering the high level of murder and crime that Brazil has, I'm seriously thinking I never want to ever go to Brazil. That said, I really don't blame Brazil. You can say it's a silly law, but a law is a law...and not only that, it's a different culture. I wouldn't be surprised if they put something like that into effect to keep others from inciting a riot, or something else. The fact that it happened to Jericho though, considering the last few years that things have happened...LOL.

If I'm not mistaken, smoking indoors is legal when doing a public performance, which is why they didn't have any problems.
