Well, Cena is still on the show every week, if not more now than ever - where did his fans go? Do they only watch when he's the champ? Not a very solid fan base then. Cena's stuff with AJ and Vickie is drawing, he had a match with Punk in the ME and it didn't draw. Overall Cena is the ratings winner while Punk isn't.

Said it before and I'll say it again, in this day and age no title reign should last a year. Things should never, ever be that stagnant when you're putting out 104 episodes of your main shows a year, and have like five side ones. I disagree. I felt those rapid, short title reings around 2010-2011 did nothing good at all.

And we made it.
Goodbye Hogan.
CM Punk is at 365 days, who would've believed that?

A reign about like that of Miz is what should be the ideal - he had it for five PPVs, that's a fine number.

I love the logic hoops people invent for themselves to jump through just so they don't have to admit something. "Okay, so he gets heat and the biggest reaction of the night, but listen to WHO'S reacting! It's not heat from THIS PARTICULAR PART OF THE AUDIENCE or THAT KIND OF HEAT and what about THIS OTHER ARBITRARY AREA WHERE HE'S NOT BEING AUSTIN OR HOGAN IN TERMS OF SUCCESS?! Only using the facts that support my argument PROVES I'm right!" Casual fans are indifferent to Punk, to get them to boo him they have him call them stupid or talk down to them or rip their city or spots teams and had the put Paul E with him who is a great heel, and even had to go on with the Lawler heart attack stuff. Punk has the IWC who are strong and blindly loyal and that's about it, I like Punk's work but I can call a spade a spade and this run is he weakest I can ever recall the top a year.

Then why as a face, during the part of his reign that absolutely SUCKED and long after they'd neutered his character, was he still getting louder, more unified babyface reactions on a nightly basis than John Cena, the undisputed top face in the company? Indifference?

Wait - you just said earlier the ratings have never been lower - so which is it? Are Cena's/Ajs/Vicki's ratings matching the 3.5's he was getting last year before they went to 3 hours? Honestly - I'm not saying Punk's a demigod who can do no wrong just that the business is changing and them going to three hours negatively affected their ratings, though they got more money from advertising on the whole I think for that extra hour.

I have no problem with 90% of all reigns lasting around 5-6 months, but don't use Miz's reign as an example. That felt MUCH longer than what it really was and most of the matches weren't that special and was eclipsed by being the 3rd wheel in a feud that didn't even involve a second opponent. Don't worry, once Punk loses the belt...business will be back to normal and they were be title changes that range from 2 weeks to 3 months. This is just a change of pace that I've gotten used to.

Tell me what has his run accomplished other than making the IWC happy?

I'm gonna die laughing if Punk loses the belt on Raw and doesn't get the year long reign thanks to the leap year.
Cause hey, you gotta laugh or cry, right?

I'm just speaking length-wise for Miz's reign. I do think his run had problems, but that's mostly because at the time pretty much every main-eventer besides Cena, Orton, and Edge was heel. Guess they could've gone with Big Show or Kane for it but they were busy wrecking any potential the Corre had. Also, I remain baffled why every PPV match between Cena and Miz is terrible, but the two have great chemistry on TV.

BUT, he was definitely more over as a face than Cena. He's STILL marginally more over as a face than Cena. That doesn't mean he was AS over as Cena, but as a face? No contest. Cena was the third choice in tonight's match as a face. He had more heat than Ryback, but not alot of face heat.

Plus, considering the IWC pretty much IS the fanbase these days considering nearly the entire WWE Universe are heavy internet users WWE would be stupid NOT to cater to them.

No, it's not - leap year. 365 days is one calendar year. You may hate it and take every waking moment you have to proclaim that but Punk has held the title for one year.

Good total rating isn't all on Cena, since he isn't in every segment but his segments always bring in ratings. To draw they need other guys to get over and Ryback has shown to be a TV draw making the numbers move here as late. Punk vs Del Rio Cena vs Del Rio Ryback vs Del Rio Which one of these would do the worst rating at the top of any of the hours on a Monday night? Seriously If they didn't book themselves into a corner with all their mania plans set they would be probably be doing Ryback and Cena right now.
