Something cool I noticed about the Top 10 Reigns (By Days) in the WWE Title's History: all but 3 (the bottom 3 actually) of the reigns** were started by winning the title in New York City, granted all but Punk's were won at house show's events due it being a different era, but still thought it was kinda a cool little fact.
**(Cena's 2006 win in Toronto, Macho Man's 1988 in Atlantic City win and Hogan's 1989 win in Atlantic City)

He's also only a tick over two weeks away from becoming the first man since Hogan in 1986 to hold the belt for the full calendar year. Hogan held the belt till February 1988, so its actually 1987. My bad, but at least you knew what I was referring to.

Longest reign under the WWE name. On a roll to be the longest reign of any belt under the WWE name.

Gregory Helms held the Cruiserweight Title for 385 days, so Punk has beaten him. I think the record under the WWE name is Trish Stratus, who held the Women's belt for 448 days (Jan 2005 - Apr 2006).

Well, when I started this thread, there was no way I could picture him doubling a 200 day reign to be at 400 right now.
This is now officially the longest run since Hulk Hogan's 1984 reign.
Only 5 men have a a title reign in the 400 day territory.
Sammartino, Backlund, Hogan, Morales, Punk.
Congrats to our WWE Champion, on the DL list.......

Where would Punk be if not for the Nash/Del Rio idiocy? 440ish? Anyway, this just reinforces my belief that whoever beats Punk for the title is going to get a HUGE rub and that it should a first time champion who isn't as incredibly limited as Ryback.

Well, so he defends the title January 7th and the only road left for Punk is the Royal Rumble against The Rock.
CM Punk (C) vs. The Rock: 434 Days.....
This will be Punk's greatest test to date.
If he retains, the following dates are important ones:
455 Days: Elimination Chamber 504 Days: Wrestlemania 29
To be continued.....

CM Punk's current reign is the 110th reign of the WWE championship. To put in perspective how long he has had the belt, the next longest reign with the belt was Hogans which was reign #10. It took 100 title changes to get a championship reign this long.

400+ days as champion,The longest reign in the modern era, One of if not thee best guy on the mic and in ring, The guy who know takes command of the show whenever he shows up, sans the injury, stills plays second fiddle to the cena/AJ storyline.
Something is horribly horribly wrong with that.

Or what, do expect the show to revolve around CM Punk coming out on crutches and trying to get cheap heat from the fans?

When CM Punk wasn't on television, everyone should've been asking "Where's CM Punk?" I blame Kevin Dunn.
