Hooray for a Genndy Tartakovsky movie hitting number 1. That too. Two hurrays for GT and Looper doing good!

Also, Dredd didn't even make it in the Top 10 this week.
Good I say. Revenge over all the crap Rob Schneider got. That, and completely ignoring the fantastical elements of Dredd and just doing a boring slow mo action movie with a bland Dredd and cast. But mostly the Rob bashing.
Schadenfreude? Hell yeah!

Looks like Sandler just got some of the pressure off him.
HT just made more in a weekend than That's My Boy made period.

Too bad because Frankenweenie will completely stop whatever HT has been doing next week. Kids films duking it out always ends in trouble. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) But Frankenweenie has a TON more age brackets to tend to. The kids yeah, but also the adults, the Tim Burton fangirls and your typical Hot Topic crowd. Which means that Liam Neeson will sneak in and kick everybody's ass.

Yeah, kid films duking it out never ends well. As you said, though, Frankenweenie on paper has the advantage of being Burton. It also has Disney's money backing it. It is funny how two animated films paying homage to the Universal monster films of the 30s and 40s are coming out so close together.

Forecast (Oct. 5-7) 1. Taken 2 - $49 million 2. Hotel Transylvania - $24.7 million (-42%) 3. Frankenweenie - $17.1 million 4. Pitch Perfect - $13.1 million 5. Looper - $12.5 million (-40%) Wow.....that is a really low forecast for Frankenweenie. I thought it was the perfect storm to at least be #2, if not potentially #1.

Didn't expect Frankenweenie to completely BOMB like that. Jesus. That's a total failure. Made even worse because the film definitely had a rather large marketing budget behind it. Just look at all the merch they made for it alone. I don't know why it bombed so badly. I mean none of the trailers made it look bad. So......wha?!

My guess is that there's already one Halloween kids film out already, and that it's the "safe" one, compared to the one that could scare those same kids due to the animation and the creep factor. It also proves that Burton isn't the money maker. It's usually his go-to star, Depp. So...cult movie, here it comes.

Maybe it's just me, but I felt like I had seen the movie after I watched the trailer, and it wasn't so great that it compelled me to want to see it again. Maybe it's bad karma for how they dumped Winnie the Pooh 2K11. It also seemed like the boring alternative to Hotel Transylvania (not that I went to see that either).

Hell I haven't seen it and I'm partially creeped out by it, mainly because of that girl Victor's age with the HUGE f***ing eyes in proportion to the rest of her head. But yeah, this definitely proves Burton is not a money maker by himself, it is Depp and his wife that bring in the big bucks on Burton's films.
