mlb network is making it seem like the red sox and yankees being 0-3 is the end of the world There was another year the Yankees started 0-3. That year was 1998. I can't say I'm worried. don't tell me you're thinking what i'm thinking

yeah, making a big deal about the Yanks being winless thus far is pretty dumb, considering how badly the Yankees seem to start almost every year. But by the end of May, that's usually forgotten.
I can see why the Sox is a slightly bigger deal, although I don't necessarily agree. This is a team who's wheels fell off in the grandest of fashions last season. As a follow-up, they didn't have too spectacular off-season. So to see them still losing, even if it is just 3 games in April, still is slightly more troubling than the Yankees, because now concerns of September 2011 being less of a unfathomable slump and more of an indication of the quality of the team are starting to arise. Again, not that I really agree with it at all, but there's definitely more of a story in the Sox being 0-3 than the Yankees.

Even if I was a Sawx fan I wouldn't be too worried. They were pretty terrible last April, too but bounced back real nicely. Of course there was all that nasty business in September but without that collapse they would've been AL East champions.

Of course there was all that nasty business in September but without that collapse they would've been AL East champions. Exactly. Both are non-stories. Obviously one look at the current standings will show how much bearing the opening series has on the season(hint: not a whole lot ). I mean, I love the fact that my Mariners are off to a great start, but I'm fully aware that it's only been 4 games, all against Oakland, who, outside of a few positions, is just completely void of talent(hell, they make Seattle look like a playoff contender), so I'm just joshing around, because I know once they have to start playing the other 12 teams in the AL, that it's going to become a lot less fun.

And KC beats the Angels. A very happy Easter it turned out for me. Lance Lynn and the cards B Squad winning and Tigers with the walkoff made the day though.

I can't wait to hear how Bobby V reacts if this continues. It won't be pretty. Honestly, the best thing that could happen is that Bobby Valentine overreacts to this and moves Daniel Bard into the closer's position. Bard could come out like gangbusters on Tuesday night and shut the Toronto Blue Jays down like Steve Nebraska in "The Scout", and I'd still say he belongs in the bullpen, especially with the cacophony of crap that the Red Sox are currently trotting out of the 'pen. Of course there was all that nasty business in September but without that collapse they would've been AL East champions. And without running into that iceberg, the Titanic would've safely docked in New York.

The Indians are supposed to have a great bullpen and lousy starting pitching. What the hell is going on?

And without running into that iceberg, the Titanic would've safely docked in New York. Irrelevant. My point still stands: April really means jack shit in the grand scheme of things. Before Boston's September collapse, they were in a really good place despite starting off horribly.

Games in April mean just as much in the standings as games in September. This isn't college football.
