If it isn't the original Guardians of the Galaxy, then I'm not interested. I shouldnt think it would be, those Guardians have little to nothing to do with Thanos and dont feature anyone worth mentioning in the movie-verse, and some would argue, the comics either (although I have always been partial to Starhawk 'Trust the word of one who knows' is a great catchphrase)

I have zero interest in the new GotG but a certain fondness for the old thanks to my Avengers fanboyism.

This better be the DnA version of Guardians or I'll burn every movie theater in America to the ground. I guarantee you the guy writing the article didn't do much research, and just read a blip about the first team on wikipedia. no way Marvel films wastes money on them. the only GOTG that anyone cares about is DnA's team. and even then, I think there's more money in a cartoon series. I love the book, but a talking raccoon and a giant tree who only ever says "I AM GROOT!" is a very tough sell.

I am all for it, I love that the Marvel universe is working out to be as diverse as the comics.

Ok, I don't even know what to think about this. Let me start off by saying, that I don't get out to the movies much, and I'm sure I will get around to seeing all of these Marvel comics movies eventually, but as of now I have only seen a couple, still haven't even seen Avengers, etc. Don't get me wrong, I love this stuff, I had a huge comic collection when I was a kid but as of right now I unfortunately only have time to read the occasional trade paperback. Trade paperbacks are something I was introduced to in 1992, when I was 10 years old, when I went into a bookstore at a mall and with my own money picked out and purchased a copy of one called "Guardians of the Galaxy". It also had a subtitle of course, but I don't remember that. Before this I had read one other hardcover book about the Silver Surfer that had basically every other Marvel Universe character too, but this isn't about that.
The point is, when I clicked on this thread, I expected to see people talking about a movie about the team of superheros in this book I bought when I was a kid. Now that I have seen the thread, I see people talking about a movie about a team called Guardians of the Galaxy created in 2008 (I had to resort to Wikipedia to sort all this out), featuring "new" versions of Adam Warlock, Drax the Destroyer, and Quasar, among others. And a raccoon guy. I was at Target yesterday, and they're already selling the toys.
So to wrap this all up...ok. I guess maybe I'll check it out.

Concept art. Not keen on Star Lord's helmet, and missing Adam Warlock. You cannot have Thanos without Adam

Speaking as a casual movie goer who is not familiar with the source material at all, if Marvel/Disney markets this to kids they are gonna make a f*** ton of money off of merch involving that raccoon.
And LOTR already got casual movie going audiences to buy talking trees.

Concept art. Not keen on Star Lord's helmet, and missing Adam Warlock. You cannot have Thanos without Adam I guess they need some part of Star Lord showing, so you remember he's human. Is Drax missing a hand or did Liefeld draw this?

Is Drax missing a hand or did Liefeld draw this? It's just a bad angle, the hand's there, it just looks like it's not because of the angle. Also......they're really gonna put the goddamn raccoon and tree in this movie? Why?

Because they're AWESOME that's why! I'm more concerned with not seeing Bug or Mantis in any of the concept art. I'd prefer them over Drax and Phyla. I guess I could live without Bug, but I always considered Mantis a key member of the team, it would be weird not having her in the movie.

Mantis might be some sort of support character, but a lot of her story is always done via thought bubbles, as she hardly ever goes on missions, but stays with Cosmo on Knowhere.
Bug is likely too green. They already have two green people, and three with Hulk, they dont need a fourth.
I can see why they might not want Moondragon and Pylla, as you can only have so many people in one film and their lesbian affair would be criticised as tokenism if it's only mentioned, but not given time, which it likely wouldnt get.
The 'odd man missing' so to speak is Adam Warlock, but then I quite like the idea of them going looking for him because they need help with something.

I'll be honest, I never liked Adam Warlock on the team and never considered him a key member. He was always too powerful in my opinion. The team appealed to me because they were bunch of fairly regular, rank and file people (and aliens) who regularly got involved in cosmic matters that were WAY over their heads, yet somehow managed to get the job done. You kinda lose that aspect when you throw super heavyweights like Warlock and Phyla or even Drax into the mix. Speaking of Phyla, is the woman in that picture behind Rocket supposed to be her or Gamora? I assumed it was Phyla at first glance because it looks like her costume (not enough skin showing for Gamora), but now that I look more closely her skin does look green (might just be a shading thing though), and the sword could be eithers.
