Mantis needs to be kept as far away from this crap as possible, mostly because bringing Mantis in without Swordsman at her side would be a crime.

I'd prefer it if they didn't use either of them at all until they have a chance to do them right.

You can do Mantis right and have her first appearance be in GotG which is right now the main thing ALOT of people know her from. Plus to do the Swordsman/Mantis stuff you gotta involve Kang, something I have no problem with but Kang in a movie just seems like doing him injustice.

Not really. Starting her off as a space-faring adventurer rather than a prostitute/bar girl in a poor country would not be the right way to introduce her at all.

Ok, I'll be honest. I love DnA's Guardians of the Galaxy books and I love the Mantis character in them. I don't have the foggiest idea who the Swordsman is or what you guys are talking about.

True, honestly I'd be fine if they keep mantis out or in, I just wanna see her on the big screen in stories I enjoy. Personalyl I'd rather they replace her with Deathcry, I don't know why but I liked her and hated her death in Anhhilation Wave. Ok, I'll be honest. I love DnA's Guardians of the Galaxy books and I love the Mantis character in them. I don't have the foggiest idea who the Swordsman is or what you guys are talking about. That makes me sad ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

Ditto - Swordsman is one of my favorite characters.
And honestly, I'd actually be interested in this movie if they decided to randomly insert Deathcry. I always kinda dug her, too.

Probably because Mantis and Swordsman haven't been together in a story since the mid to late 70s. He's currently dead, and has been since the same time, bar the odd minor temporary resurrections. Mantis is a fun character though, and one of the few characters who has been written by her creator in all three of the major American comic companies, as Englehart continued her story in his work for DC and Image before she turned up in his Silver Surfer run in the mid 80s

More's the pity, too. Swordsman is an amazing character, and I think he could do well if given another chance.

They should have just had him stay alive after that Chaos War crossover, since he and Yellowjacket certainly seemed like they were alive again at the end of the Dead Avengers portion anyways. But, regardless, if he ever DID come back, he would absolutely need to be a big part of any Hawkeye series going on at the time. Put those two together again and throw Bobbi into the mix, and you'd have the ingredients for a fun little set of interactions.

Deathcry, as I recall, bit it in the Dead Avengers climax. Swordsman and Yellowjacket, meanwhile, survived the Dead Avengers mini and even seemed to survive the Chaos War as a whole, but Marvel apparently decided against letting that mean that they were alive again like Alpha Flight is.

Lame, I would have rather had Swordsman, Yellowjcket, and Deathcry than the Alpha Flight.
Speaking of Swordsman, whatever happened to Swordsman II? Been reading the Avengers Assemble collection and I miss those two. Also man, forgot how dissapointing that Morgan Le Fey story wqas, really should have been a mini series unto it's self instead of instantly having everyone come free from her spell.

Swordsman II and Magdalene went off into the multiverse at the end of the 1998 Avengers/Squadron Supreme annual, and to my knowledge they haven't been seen since except for in the background of a big Initiative group shot.
And I loved that Morgan Le Fey arc. Sure, it would have been epic if it had been given more time, but the time it was given was spent pretty danged well, in my opinion.
