Am I the only who loves how awful this game? I mean it's terrible but somehow the system is pretty solid. It's like an easier to control WWF Attitude with crazy russo storylines. I downloaded it after seeing someone let's play it and I can't stop playing it. There's just something hilarious about seeing the British bulldog get pelted with a mic while cutting a pre-match promo. It's a classic So Bad It's good wrestling game.

There was actually an official Wrestlecrap Board mod of this game made way back in the Ezboard days... Somehow even I made the cut despite only really stalking in those days

MPire is hilariously bad that it becomes good, made better by how the creator considers it better than WWE 12

The concept is awesome. The execution is silly.
I really like the idea of a wrestling game where you can work for different promotions.
Dickie did a good job, but he'll be the first to tell you that and it doesn't really help that all his games are basically just Mpire again, regardless of what they're supposed to be about.

Yeah, I've enjoyed it. At the end of the day, that's all I can really ask of a game like that. I'd like to get it again actually, with a real world mod (including a lot of old school guys that are basically in the original game anyway)

There's a guy on the Something Awful forums who's currently LP'ing it, and it's hilarious. It's the little moments like nobody showing up for a dead wrestler's tribute show, or watching a guy with no arms try to climb up the side of a steel cage that make this game amazing in spite of itself.
I mean I wouldn't play it because it looks terrible, but I can see how it could be enjoyable in a so bad it's good kind of way.

the only thing missing from this is a CPU v CPU option ..... 'cos that would be AWESOME!!! if there IS that option, apologies .....

It's on the MDickie site in the Mods section. I downloaded, and could set up a match, but got an error message whenever it tried to load a match, so I never got to play it.

The LP from the SA forums also made a mod that makes the game even funnier by making explosions way more lethal. You know guys, we should totally make a FAN fed with CPU vs CPU matches just for the hell of it and upload matches to youtube until the wrestlers died.
I think it's possible to do CPU vs CPU matches with some easy mods, I know I remember doing that once(not sure if I had to be the ref for the match or not but, yeah).

I've actually been a big supporter of this guy's games since the early days, and really there's two sides of the coin for me.
On one hand, the games are incredibly simplistic, mind-blowingly ridiculous, and at the end of the day, very very fun. I mean where else can you enter a battle royal, leave the ring, hit the "massive explosion" code and spend the rest of the match putting a limbless torsos in a boston crabs while they cry in agony? Absurdity at near its absurd best!
There is also pretty big modding community who are pretty good at what they do as well. Mdickie himself has a new game out that is a bit of old school and new school mixed called Wrestling Revolution. It's already on mobile and eventually PC. Looks like it will be fun as well.
On the other hand, the one man approach, while admirable, gets on a lot of people's nerves, and rightfully so. The guy is inspiring in the sense that he has really built his vision of games from the ground up. It is literally his own little empire and he has had success with it. However, he is also very thin-skinned. For example, people have been asking on his Facebook when the new game is going to be available for PC. An annoying question to be sure, but not a completely out of place one. He responds to this by posting a poll asking:
"Which developers take time out of their busy schedule to release PC versions of their touch-screen mobile apps?"
The possible answers were of course smarmy versions of "Me/Mdickie/etc."
So I mean, while I respect the guy and what he's accomplished, the chip on his shoulder constantly causes him to lash out at any criticism (which there is no shortage of on the internet) he gets. I think he'd be better served to just ignore it and do what makes him happy. No need to dwell on negativity, and even worse, be part of it.
Just my two cents though.

The controls being completely unresponsive make the games unplayable and not fun to me.
I'd play them, if they actually controlled.

Oh, no question MDickie is a dick. No question. No question. Still, his games are so bad they are hilarious. I love them in the most ironic, hipster way possible.
