Man I love The Asphyx - I love those period scienceman horror movies. Maybe its the sorta steampunk quality of using old timey science to do crazy stuff I love so much.
And I really like Psycho II, I actually liked it better than the original - but that may have just been because somehow Meg Tilly is even hotter than her sister. I wish she had done more movies.
Anyways, I recently watched one called "Luther The Geek". About a guy who loves them chicken heads, but just biting in general. He goes around biting people to death. The blood really sprays in this one, and the gore is fun (albeit silly). The characters are all the stupidest people under the sun, but it leads to hilarity so that is okay. There some good scary shots of Luther running amok, and the guy playing him is actually sorta good? The best part is he runs around clucking and bigawking like a chicken - which leads to one of the greatest endings in cinema history (lolololol). Seriously, loved this movie. I'd give it a 4 out of 5 despite the fact it looks like it was made with 2 dollars and a wheel of cheese.

It's probably my favorite Psycho sequel. They were respectful towards the original but ultimately made it their own, with a twist ending that I think would've made Hitchcock proud.

Hellraiser *DVD* I’ve been slowly working my way through the entire series (the fact that it’s taken me two years to get from parts 3 to 6 should tell you how much I’m enjoying them) but decided to go back and remind myself what brought me to the game. This was one of the first horror movies I ever saw and I always appreciated it because it wasn’t scary in the traditional sense. Just awesome. Great practical effects, great sound work and of course some great character design. It’s really a shame the franchise has been drug through the mud because the first two movies are really f***ing good.

Absolutely. HELLRAISER and HELLBOUND: HELLRAISER II are both five-star classics in my book. Love 'em!

Absolutely. HELLRAISER and HELLBOUND: HELLRAISER II are both five-star classics in my book. Love 'em! 3 is good cheesy shit and I don’t even remember 4. Other than that 4 was in space. But that’s all anyone seems to remember about 4. I know 5 and 6 bored the hell out of me.

BLOODLINES was a rough watch, but it had a young Adam Scott (Ben Wyatt from Parks and Rec), that's about all I remember. I thought INFERNO was a neat flick. Different, but enjoyable because of it. HELLSEEKER saw the chick from the first two movies come back. Otherwise, meh. DEADER, uh...exists. HELLWORLD had young Henry Cavill and Khary Payton (current Superman and animated Cyborg, respectively) going to a party to try to pick up goth chicks. REVELATIONS had similar story beats to the first one, but was just average. Doug Bradley was sorely missed. I haven't seen the most recent one.

I have no desire to ever see the one with the other guy playing Pinhead or the one after

Ahh Hellraiser my second favorite horror franchise.
Love 1,3,5,6. Hated 4 and 7. Part 2 is odd with me. Saw it when it came out and didnt like it. But I had just read the novella the first film was based on. Rewatched it a few years ago and I don't hate part 2,but also I don't find it nearly as good as most do.
The newest one Judgment is really good,

the original is still my favorite horror movie, I also love Hellraiser 2, and Hellraiser 3 is still goofy fun largely carried by Doug Bradley. after those movies outside of Doug Bradley being great, they're pretty terrible.

I was listening to an interview with Darren Lynn Bousman, director of the new Saw movie Spiral, and they brought up the time he shared a traumatic story from childhood, so I tracked down the YouTube video and thought I'd share it:
Yeeeeeeeeeesh.

So, what do you all think of Phantasm franchise? I'm starting marathon tomorrow!
I've seen I-IV long time ago and was fascinated to find out there's also fifth film made in 2016! > Only thing I remember from the plot is the Tall Man trying to take over the world and all-in-all these films being weird as hell to watch. Plus Reggie being a damn bad ass!

Despite loving some weird nightmare-logic horror, I watched the original PHANTASM and didn't enjoy it. Not sure why, exactly. Then I skipped ahead to PHANTASM: RAVAGER and enjoyed that one, even though it was clearly the fifth part of an ongoing story and didn't bother with trying to make sense for new people.
JENNIFER'S BODY is a film I bought and watched years ago and thought it was okay. I want to give it another go one of these days and see if it sits better or worse with me now. I recall Diablo Cody's dialogue being ridiculous, but little else.

152. Shogun’s Joy of Torture* *Bluray* Within the first minute of this I thought I was in store for a brutal trip but then the explicit violence was toned down exponentially for the rest of the movie. And the comical lengths they went to avoid nudity was...comical. It was maybe the least erotic “erotic” I’ve ever seen. It was still really explicit for its time (1968) and the fact that it’s all based in truths adds another brutal layer to it but it got my hopes way too high at the beginning. The third story (as this is an anthology) did inject some much needed comedy and ample nudity.

And I LOVE 4. Had part 5 for a few years now but haven't watched it. Mostly cause it appears to be a film you either love or hate. And I'm dreading watching it and maybe hating it.

Phantasm II had much more action, splatter and comedy in it - compared to the original. Enjoyed it a lot.

Phantasm II was made by a big studio. All the other films in the franchise were made by indie studios.

Michael Baldwin seems to be making a comeback for rest of the films. > Looking forward to seeing my favorite scene from the 4th one where there's a demon disguised as police officer...
