So apparently the NHL is saying that if the NHLPA decertifies, they will consider all contracts null and void.

It's brinkmanship on both sides. Take it as it is.

Ya, my friend and I were talking about how this time the feeling isn't "hurry up and get the hockey back!!" It's total apathy. I'm to the point where I don't know if I go back to being a hardcore fan. Have this bullshit happen again in 5 years. This has been just a soul crushing lockout for us

Like I was still checking updates on the lockout regularly with optimism of a short season but I just don't care anymore. I have a horrible feeling Donald the Destroyer is going to win the lockout and hockey will be runned like the dark ages as it has been in the 90's which stings fans of small market teams like me the most especially on how Edmontons rebuild is almost complete. I don't want to lose half the roster we sucked hard to get before having shot to go deep in the playoffs. Plus if the players win what was the point of the 04-05 lockout? The end result was the best thing to happen for hockey and truly that lockout is going to be pissed away for nothing. I'm going to be excited for the World Jrs still but I can't help but to think this is the next generation to lead the next lockout the next 5-10 years. I'm just thankful that my team only has one player making an ass out of himself in the lockout (Horcoff), but we hate him already and I'm not looking forward to seeing the Fab 5 kids leading the next one. Meh f*** this league.

What a surprise. Greed-fueled work stoppages every few years causes apathy and mistrust among your customers.

Meh f*** this league. Um...how does Fehr "win" the lockout when it was the owners who locked the players out to begin with, and how does he "win" the lockout when the players have made concessions on every single item of negotiation except for pension and make-whole? There's no agreement in place, but once it is the players are getting a whuppin'. By the by, I also can't deny: while it doesn't help matters that I'm working seven days a week and going to grad school, my brain simply isn't dwelling on hockey all that much lately. There's lots of fans who are waiting eagerly for an answer on all this stuff, but every day that number shrinks more and more. Apathy is the name of the game. Make no mistake in this market: nobody in NYC/northern Jersey talks much hockey on TV or radio during a season, and they sure as hell aren't talking about it during a lockout.

Make no mistake in this market: nobody in NYC/northern Jersey talks much hockey on TV or radio during a season, and they sure as hell aren't talking about it during a lockout. I agree that the owners were mostly responsible in creating the lockout but the players are almost equally if not equally responsible as well. The NHL is the only sport were the players get a bigger piece of the revenue pie than all of the major sports. Hell I think the NHL might be one of the few jobs in the world that gets more than the owners. The owners should of proposed a 50/50 split rather than originally proposing a 57/43 split telling them to take a 17% paycut. But the NHL needs a 50/50 split to help those franchises struggling to survive and it's not just the sunbelt teams struggling, it's also the franchises that have a storied long history with awesome fanbases like St. Louis Blues and or franchises were it actually snows but plagued with horrible owner management like the New York Islanders. NHL is probably the only major sports league with the most amount of struggling franchises. But the players are also a big part of this lockout for one they waited till late mid July to start negotiations when they should of started last off season when the owners were ready. They also submitted their first proposal during f***ing mid November. If they started earlier than we there wouldn't be a stupid initial offer that created the shock and confusion that started the lockout since they would have an idea what the NHLPA wants and needs. The thing that bugs me the most about the players is how short sighted the players really are. Guys part of Fehr's inner circle like Campoli and Cole wouldn't have jobs if the league didn't have 30 f***ing teams or their professional career's wouldn't be as long. Plus the NHL has doubled the salary cap in six years and are making record profits something they want to piss away for nothing. Record profits equals more cash. Also they need to realize that it's pretty f***ed up that even with record profits, there are so many teams struggling financially and need to be relocated. A big problem is those ridiculous mega contracts like DiPietro that there is no way to get out of for the owners granted the owners should of never offered them in the first place. Like I said I rather trust a couple of billionaires who became billionaires because they are educated on finance rather than a couple of high school educated millionaires who became rich for playing a game.

Just a heads up about the WJC Tournament. Finlands team won the Canadian team 3-2. But the interesting part is that Finland used their number three goalie and didn't even have Aleksander Barkov yet. And this was against a team which has Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

And this was against a team which has Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Well Malcolm Subban is practically our 3rd string goalie and was bad during training camp and everyone was surprised he didn't get cut. Haven't watched the game but I read Canada was undisciplined and there were lots of 5-3's in the game.
